My proposition would be to add a reply option in guild chat, so you could reply to a message someone wrote and theyd get that message reply alert along with message in their messages tab also.

If @gapukas is not sufficient, perhaps you should send them a private message to continue the conversation outside of chat.
as in keeping track of guild chat better in very active chats
