Hey im a avi maker and i love to create awesome avatars for others. But i think that 200kb is a bit low when you want to create an animated avatar or a quick video of something funny. I though that it would be great that the max kb should be at 400-600kb Then people would have more interest in avatars and more fun with them

Work within the limits - everyone else does
Bigger file sizes = more storage space the cows need to provide and increase the downloads players have to do ..

Animated avatars do not interest me, but I know some people like them.
If this would not slow down page loading etc, then I guess it would be cool... you guys can have more fun creating stuff

Nearly all my animated avi's went to 300-400kb. So i always have to make the colours alot stronger is pixelate it :L It would be great with a little more space so it could be more fun for the players And i don't think it will slow down page loading much

Also for thoose who can't see animated avatars does not have to worry about the time to load the page because i tink it only loads 1 photo of the animation

You can but it wont look very good. But it can be over 200 even if you delete most of the frames. I edited an animated avi. And it was already over 200kb when i only had 3 frames.

Remember, even though it's only a few KB for one player, it all adds up in terms of server costs and storage costs. Additionally, think of how many pages reference that single page - for example, my allies list has 12 animated avatars, which means a huge bandwidth usage to send those avatars every time, assuming no caching. It all adds up .

let the cows work on finishing those other stuff first i dont see this as very important im not even sure when was the last time i paid attention to an avi much less a animated one

Its not really that low i can have over 10 even 20 frames and still stay under 200 kb. I think that you just save gif then save it as png right away thats why it goes over limit

Perhaps. Any ideas why they don't accept GIF files?

I suspect it was because they didn't want animated avatars and then someone, who shall rename nameless (but is on my allies and flies solo), discovered that animated PNG's worked. The floodgates opened and it was probably too late to do anything about it then as quite a few people had paid quite a few other people for animations ...

Could make it where you input a URL instead of upload directly... that way the storage is from places like photobucket, imageshack saves space everyone wins

Well it would be alot easier to make avatars if they could make it possible to upload gif files aswell
