Because honestly, watching one of my plots expire with planted crops because I looked away from the computer for 30 seconds while going through the "rake, scarecrow, dust, compost, plant" routine is just really freaking annoying.

Ditto watching disease eat 20+ percent of my crop because my guy derps around forever with a watering can and another plot picks the worst time to pick up disease. Farming seems to be the only profession that can't do this.

Don't. Go. AFK.

Problem solved.

If by AFK you mean looked away from the screen for more than 30 seconds sure.

There's absolutely no reason for someone to plant the seed and then have the plot just disappear two seconds later because of an arbitrary invisible timer despite the fact they literally just interacted with it and are obviously not AFK.

Hell I've had plots vanish simply because raking, dusting, composting, scarecrowing and then planting three plots eats a massive amount of the timer and then had the other two plots take forever to need pruning (And you need to wait for that cool down because you can't cancel the watering action to deal with it...).

So are you complaining about disease or is this a bug where your plot randomly disappears?

So are you complaining about disease or is this a bug where your plot randomly disappears?

It's not a bug and it's not randomly disappearing. The AFK timer simply appears to run from when the plot was first claimed. Given that the timer is relatively short and the time it takes to prep multiple plots is relatively long, there's not exactly a lot of extra time. A slight distraction or basically doing anything but grinding out the plots as fast as possible means at least some of those plots will expire on you, without warning, regardless of how recently you actually did anything with them.

Simple fix: Make the plot expire based on time from last interaction. No more plots disappearing despite the fact someone literally just planted the crop, but if someone goes AFK the plot still reopens for others in good time.

The disease thing is separate. Farmers can't (Uniquely and for no discernable reason) cancel actions. Which means you're stuck waiting for the first plot to disease and get pruned before you can water the second plot, which you then need to have disease and get pruned before you can start the third. Sometimes this happens immediately, sometimes it never happens and you end up harvesting the first plot before you even start the second. If you have that happen more than once in a row, it can lead into problem one where the last plot up and vanishes. This is in a word, annoying. Farming is not exactly the most thrilling profession in the game, and spending most of my time at the mercy of the RNG is not fun.

Again simple fix: Allow actions to be interrupted.  Being able to water or harvest a plot and then cancel the action to tend to the another plot would be a huge QoL improvement over the current options of A "wait for however long it takes the RNG to cough up disease" or  B "Stare impotently as a quarter of your crop vanishes to disease while waiting for the action to finish"

I think this could be solved by making each animation 0.5s or 1s long.

Also an option, though given that the animations all have different lengths I expect the devs are happy with animation length for farming.
