I know it was a mistake when there was a section for it in the Hub, but is it that bad of an idea? I've been trying to get the right components for HK items, but I seem to be getting unlucky in getting bulletproof plates. If there were an area for components, I could just give up and go buy one from the Hub and put up some of the other stuff that I had gotten from extracting and didn't need. So thoughts? Any blaring reasons why this is a bad idea that I seem to be completely oblivious to?

HCS, what would happens if a player extract 10 'Proto warrior torso' and happens not to get the component he is looking for. . or if the player even made his set but he got unused components from the 'proto warrior torso', what good would those components do in a bag of components where the only option is destroy them.
I would suggest both Component trading from player to player and the trade hub for components are enabled.

Nah, it is more fun having components fail to extract. I do have components that are valuable and cannot finish the item but someday I will have a chance to finish it.

We want rares to stay that way - rare.
If we allowed componants to be traded then players could simply get the Blueprint and 'shop' for the components and build the item. This would make creating rares too easy, and so eventually fill the game with them. Effectivly making them commons.
There has be a chance of failure somewhere, this makes the creation of a rare an accomplishment of sorts and keeps their value up. We allow the trading of resourses, this is a way to gain extra Credits. This is good, as well as - there is still a risk of the player who bought the resourse will fail to extract the component they want. So keeping rares - rare.
There is no issue with having extra componants. All componants are bound so the player either destroyes them or makes extra items for thier respective faction [as long as the rare item is not bound of course]. The real decision for the player is when they gain a resourse, do they use it or sell it :?:
Componants will never be able to be sold in the Trade Hub for the above reasons.

I agree that component Trading should not be possible. However, I do feel you should be able to indicate which type of component you wish to extract from a given resource. I can imagine this would significantly increase the possibility of failure to keep it balanced, but it would be less frustrating than extracting the wrong component for 10 times in a row.
As for realism, if I find a particular resource and need a specific component, I would try and extract that, not end up with something else...
Just my 2 cents
