Holy crud. Here's one "strategy" that isn't working.

I've seen a lot of people advising new players, "Stick next to the repair centers and only kill the monsters there, it saves stamina."

And while that will work in the short term, it really, really messes up a map in a long term. It's common sense that there will be more monsters on the edge of maps since nobody's killing them there, but they're still respawning there. And since the number of monsters stays constant there will be less in the middle.

Example: I'm training in Highridge Mines Chasm. Here there are no monsters whatsoever, only 2 or 3 here and there even on the outer edge. Absolutely nothing, in the entire map, until I get to the upper right corner. And there, in the 5 spaces in the corner, I estimate half the monsters in the entire area are packed. I step on one square, kill 8 monsters with the SS2 add-on (and I do kill all 8, my credit count goes up for each), go back, and 8 monsters again. So I 12345678 again. And there are still 8 monsters. And I do this two more times until my equipment is too broken to continue. And every single square is the same.

I encourage any player training in this area to go to the square I'm talking about (just right of the augmenter) and get rid of them, and make the Chasm less annoying to train in. Clearing out clusters of mobs clearly helps. I've seen this a ton on FallenSword too, if you clean out a large group of them you'll start seeing 2 or 3 on every square, inside and out. I can't even clean out a single square of this mess without having to go repair...is it really this messed up?

Why does anybody hunt like that? It's only logic that it will break eventually. If you and the rest of the community only hunt in 1/2 the map, then the amount of mobs there will slowly dwindle. First they're split 50/50, 50 in the inside, 50 on the edge, then when you kill the close ones the balance becomes 0/50, and when the respawn evenly, half of the 50 dead in the inside and the other half on the edge, it becomes 25/75. And past that it will become 12/88, then 6/94, then 3/97...until you have none at all.

How can it be that a strategy that benefits any one person (since I lose about 50 stamina per trip going to the edge, it was clearly better to stay in the center) screws over the entire community? Do you hunt like this?

I've been in lvl 39, and it has not been too hard to find mob. just go to corner and there are plenty even here.

This does make sense to me... and unlike the rest of you, I do travel, everywhere... I'm not afraid of a little death occasionally, use your heal while you are out and about, and you will die less... on second thought, stay around the repair shop, I will kill the beasties while you are afraid to venture out into the wilderness to seek your own fortune :P

Well you could move on up to the lvl 39 area where the players out number the mobs 3-1 even in the corners.

I'm working on it as fast as I can :)
I need more Energeeeeee

Yeah well, actually a player loses more stamina running around in the middle and only killing 1 every 2 spaces that going for a trip and killing +25 monsters and getting a nice xp pot.

honestly if you die (in my case at least) you lose about 200 exp, so why NOT go to the edge and get a ton of kills, it's worth the 200 exp lost instead of the 200 energy loss from running from square to square. plus send most of your gold to someone else so when you die you lose little gold too, dying CAN be profitable for fast leveling.

Or you could have a faction mate stand on a repair and every time you need the gear repaired you can send it to them. Of course it takes a bit of coordination, but can be very effective.

I don't really see a problem. It seems to be working fine. The majority of the players are the drones who clear up the map, and then you have a small populace of players who know that this occurs and uses it to their advantage. I think the strategy is working.
