And now I see that a ton has happened in my absence? What's with all of this 'making the game easier' stuff?

repair kits in all stores (good idea)
all gear beefed up a few points
increased credit and xp gain
common items not for sale in stores any more, to be dropped by creatures...clogging up your BP when you're leaving those precious few spaces open for a rare drop needed for an extraction
cows joining factions maybe
a world gone mad

See what happens when you leave?... Don't do that again. ;PI missed one day of SS2, which led to another, which led to another...
And now I see that a ton has happened in my absence?

Oh, my god.
Oh, my god.
What udder madness, Cows.
Just by glancing at one page I can see that FC prices have doubled! What a nightmare.
I've got a lot of ranting to do...

What udder madness, Cows
on levels where you need a resource to extract to complete a mission we had the find item buff
since these levels had 2 items - the one needed to complete the mission and one to build a rare piece of gear - if FI kicked in you had a 50% chance to get the item you wanted
if the level had, say 2 common items added to the mix this meant the chances of getting the item needed to complete a mission is now 1/4, or 25% ... 20% if 3 common items are on that level
sympathy for the players trying to complete level 83 before sub-leveling
to make up for this a scavanging stim (find mission resource) was added, but at the time of this post it's only available in taulin city
with the new scavanging stim, and the usefulness of the find item buff now diminished we're waiting to see if a skill reset is going to be given
no idea why this particular update/improvement was done, as it seems to have made the game more frustrating to those affected so far

Find Item is not useless because it still works with all item types instead of just resources and mission items. Scavenger does not work on Elites and Hunter Killers but Find Item will!
I agree this is true, and I'll be keeping mine. But, there are likely many players that have FI specifically to help with missions. For these players this is now a wasted skill.
I imagine that there are skill tree changes on the way. IMO, HCS would be better served by just saying any skill reset will wait until then and that it will be coming.

ah, ok - didn't know
i just reread the FI buff description - it does not specifiy this
i can't find a description of the scavanging stim, though i did read it as being a resource finder - resources ARE dropped by HKs and elites, though not MISSION resources
this may have been specified somewhere, i missed it
at one time updates and announcements were coming out so fast on the homepage, along with announcements of new HKs, behemoths, etc, that if you were away for more than a day you might miss something as it was pushed off the page
and an example of what frustrates the newer players into quitting - lack of information
yes yes yes - the orientation levels are very very very easy - but there is still much more to learn through trial and error
while hunting/training with buffs running you don't alway stop to read the fine print - and yes, that's my problem if i don't
perhaps a glossery or FAQ added to the main menu for new players to read in their downtime, with no buffs running - not a cheatsheet, but including questions like:
- how can i increase my chances of getting a drop i want?
- my BP is currently full, that item i just invented will stay safe in my mailbox till i pick it up, right?
- what's the difference between augmentation and engineering?
- my item is crafted "good" and i want to increase it to "perfect". is this possible?
- what is a "buff"?
- i was going into a new area and a pop-up said something about "PvP". what does this mean?
- what's a "faction"?
- having my own faction with all those cool structures and stuff looks very fun, very easy, and looks like it takes no work at all! should i start my own?
- i just bought a pumpkin head because it looked like a pumpkin head i have in fallensword, but it has no stats. what do i do? (a question like this was in newbie help some time back)
hope y'all get the idea here - currently under the resources tab, there is a "support" option that looks to have a search engine to "View categorized listing of all common frequently asked questions" but every game-related word i've ever entered only gives me "Sorry, we were unable to find any results for the given search phrase."
also, i just clicked support and it took me to Home -> Fallen Sword

We don't have the time at the moment to completely compile all the information in Sigma into bite size chunks. This is where players and the Wiki really come in handy! We are still thinking about the tutorial realm as well and how to maybe improve it or open the realm to higher players, but nothing is set in stone at the moment.

We always want to make the game more newbie friendly. A Glossary or FAQ would be something I personally would be happy to see. However, we do have the newbie forums and there are stickies and Guides on there as well.

Idea for the training realm
The big difference between this game and others is the sense of isolation players encounter - especially early on. A lot of the fun for me when I started was the mass amount of people passing through the areas. The game felt very alive. This needs to be brought to the younger folk. When a person spends a few days on 3-4 maps and don't see anyone they get the wrong idea. I think grouping some of the levels together on a map would help a lot - although, you need to teach the player how to identify the level of the mobs if you do so

-It is useless for missions due to scavenger, most players in older content don;t need FI for items since the faction we're in will usually have an upgraded version of it. I am in ROTTK, FI only served for missions, not to find itmes/gear.
-Although i see many players only using scavenger, turn on FI and scavenger, you will barely get any items (as if FI was off) and get way more resources (like FI used to work).

we do have the newbie forums and there are stickies and Guides on there as well
some of these --- Player-Made --- stickies and guides contain (some) outdated information and are made by some/many players that are now inactive - some are just a few comments stating some general info about the first few levels
ffdamage mentions in his guide that you are only safe on a pyramid in a PvP area - this was changed to include shops later on.
as FFdamage is now inactive - no one can PM him to update this
jadedreams - inactive - good tutorial for getting thru levels 1 - 5
for maps was vvallace and conquerer7 - both inactive
vvallaces' maps were a link that had a monthly cost, i remember him asking for donations - when he went inactive his maps disappeared so that link was recently unstickied
conquerer7, though he signs on from time to time, is naked/inactive at the time of this post, and his maps end @ 140 - still a good reference for newbies, haven't checked to see if any info there is outdated
....that's as far down the list as i went, hope you see what i mean
