Mindstones

I've just created some mindstones, and filled them.
It seems to me that apart from using less BP space, they are a waste of skillpoints?
It takes 2 shards to make a stone, and takes double the psi to fill them, then you only have the same amount of ammo you'd have with 2 shards, and of course when failing you waste 20 psi.
This might be interesting if you have weapons that hold over 60 ammo, but otherwise it seems to me a massive waste of points to pay to fill stones, and having to spend time making them on a lab, to get back the same as you'd have with 2 shards, besides having to wait to run out of ammo to fill weapon again.
Anyone else has thoughts on this?

Making the stones and putting in skillpoints to those skills gives you access to the Purist weapons, which are pretty powerful weapons.
That's not the point of this topic, access to the weapons/sets comes through Psionis Sensitivity, not Mind Shard/Stone.
I have the weapons and use them, they can hold 60 ammo. The shards give 30 ammo, the stones give 60 ammo. To make 1 stone you need 2 shards (and credits), AND skillpoints in the mindstone skill, while using 20 psi (or loose 20 on fail) all to make the same amount of ammo for a higher cost, and the necessity of going to lab to invent them?
Using shards (no blueprint needed, 10 psi lost on fail to fill), you can add to the weapon when ammo goes down under 30/60, so less danger of running out.
I have a reset, if there's nothing to be got out of the mindstone skill, i'll take my points back.
If the Mind Shard --> Mind Stone --> Mind Orb does the same, I prefer to get some extra BP slots to hold more shards, skillpoints are hard enough to come by.
Someone out there using Mind Orbs?

Actually, it's entirely the point. The Mind Stones and suchlike are tougher because they give you weapons that are more powerful than the other classes.

Mindstones are ammo used for psi weapons, same with mindshards. I can use the weapons perfectly ok without the stones, only thing they do is give MORE ammo in one go, which is actually a hindrance, needing to go down to 1 ammo, to fill a 60 ammo weapon, with a 60 ammo Stone. I can fill the 60 ammo weapon with 2 shards, once under 30/60 i add a shard to make sure not to run out during grouped hits.
I needed more sensitivity to use those weapons, not Mind Stone at all, I might add there's players lot higher level than me never used the mindstone at all

yes, but if it is just to build a weapon, but not needed to use it, I still don't see the point in using skillpoints for more than 1 player in faction.

Then don't! It's entirely up to you how you distribute your skill points.

I suppose all classes have a skill they have to take to invent a weapon?
:
No, but purists are the only class that can make every blueprint in the game.

And honestly, boeffie, I don't think this is much of an issue...if you don't like them, don't use them. Simple.

I believe what boeffie meant is that we have a higher level skill which naturally should have been slightly more useful/powerful/convenient and its not, in fact its the other way around. I use orbs now because i took sword of psi which saves up some BP but its a hassle for an everyday skill to need inventing then charging it with a change to fail. It would be much more appealing if it cost 15 psi or something or you didn't have to invent mind orb to charge, maybe 2 shards in the BP - one charged mind orb or you didn't have to be on top of the inventing plan to make the orb, we do form those orbs with our mind why would i need a bench to make them.
Thank you, demisp and Ambrosius, these are the first posts that are actually to the point.
I put 100 sp into the mindstone, expecting it to be more usefull than the shards. It costing double making them (on a lab), and double psi filling them with higher failrate (though i only have 50 in the shards), for them to be then irritating to use and only usefull once you can get orbs, that would have been good to know beforehand.
I'm happy to know I can use it in 50 levels then, at least, though I could have used the points till then in a better way for the meantime

Do you remember what shop or area you found the orb blueprint?
You can find the blueprints on two stores:
Obsidian Tower (Vault)
Obsidian Tower (Locker)

Ok, I walked to those shops and there is no Mind Orb blueprint, only the Mind Stone blueprint. Is that what you meant?
Oh you are correct, i meant Mind Stones. sorry for that. I dont thing there are blueprints for the mind orbs yet or i havent found them.
