Mobile Artifacts

I think it would be fun to have a couple of artifacts that change location from time to time. Maybe have a little prize for the first faction to find it after it moves.

Or Maybe.... once captured, the faction could re hide the artifact somewhere.....

Interesting idea, would the artifact be like a gateway perhaps. The ancient war machines used them to move around. (not that I have seen any ancient war machines but only old tales of the past).

don't know, just seems like a cool way to handle artifacts.... As it is now, whoever can build the biggest squad wins.... why not make it so there needs to be a hunt.... Maybe the artifact could have a level and you can only move it to a map within 25 levels to prevent hiding them at end content.

maybe they could take a point from the other faction, this would insure good hiding since the only gains would be from hourly gains then....

very cute idea.. i guess it'd be difficult to rewrite the artifact code/move the artwork for the existing artifacts, but new mobile artifacts can be added with bonuses as suggested..

hiding does not mean really hiding it anyway, easy enough to find if people look. and make it cost like 5 energy/move to move the artifacts. :D that will limit the move. :D (and no portal)

A cost might make sense - but energy is problematic (high energy in particular). The top few factions have players that could easily sink 10k enetal makes srgy into moving an artifact but smaller factions can't. Obviously, larger factions deserve some advantages but they already have those from the capacity to defend (or capture) with large numbers.

I'm on the fence about mobile artifacts in general but think that they would need to be visible on the world map (as the Behemoth is) for this to be workable. As such, moving it a few squares would do nothing so a means of moving it to another realm must be provided. Otherwise I think it's just a gimmick that does no good.

If this were implemented (and how far down the list of doom this belongs is scary), I'd like to see it possible to move the artifact once for free. Every hour after that there is a cost to moving it again with each time it's moved the cost doubling. This cost could be both energy and credits I guess. Also, some careful limits should be in place. I think each one would need a "level" and it couldn't be moved into a realm above the level of the artifact. Otherwise, right when content is released they could all be put out of reach of all but a couple players for hours (and out of reach of some factions effectively forever).

This has gotten pretty far away from the original suggestion. I was thinking of maybe only a small reward for finding it. I don't like the idea of letting factions re-hide it because you would wind up with factions merely trading it back and forth.

As initially proposed, I think this could be a boon to factions with lower level players. Those players could potentially find it on lower level maps in the ordinary course of their leveling. They could sit on it until someone else finds it. If the reward were small, that would keep the larger factions from burning a lot of energy looking for it.
