I really think 1min between post would be ok. people can easily take the convo to PM if needed

I they run continuous update type programming in ANY part of the screen it should be the "currently present on the world square" for seeing mobs and other players or "game stats" so the clock worked. But, the game is based on full browser reload so we don't have those kinds of things....

I think a level requirement of 3 should be added to Global Chat. I have seen level 1 spamming in global chat.

ive seen lev 57 spaming about hp in there ?

The main reason we HAVE chat is for level 1-5 players to get a community feeling and some help. I suggested 5-10 free posts per player (total, not daily) and then 1 credit per level per post. That way after the initial posts you would need to actually move and kill things to get any posts. Making a level limit defeats the purpose of the chat - or in great part does.

no lvl requirement. but we could limit to 1 min cool down and possibly some other cost beside the energy. but 1 min cooldown should do enough IMHO to limit the spamming.

In my opinion, there shouldn't be a cost...

It's not like it's going to replace shoutbox, because with shoutbox, your advertisement/message is gonna be there for days.. therefore getting you more responses. Whereas the global chat will (hopefully) be moving fast and your advertisement would disappear quickly, probably getting you no responses.

Maybe put in a cool down time between messages of 30 seconds to a minute.. and you'll see a lot more people chatting. Well.. You'll see me in there a lot more often for sure at least. Most days I'm just not willing to spend an energy to say hi.

If we had mods or an effective way to stop abuse, then I see no problem with it being free. I don't think that something with so much potential to get the game back up should be used as an energy sink.
