Before the last update I was earning 24xp per "Improved Crafted Coarse Gloves". The craft skill needed is 4 and I'm level 4. With the last update I'm now only earning only 5 or 6xp. With 650xp needed, that means I need to make about 122 gloves. That combined with the reduction of Jute crops by 50% means a lot of effort to get from 4 to 5. At this rate I will need to spend roughly 3-5x the amount of time needed to level my character compared to crafting just to clothe myself... that does not include if I also want to arm myself with my own craft. I'm at such a low level in crafting yet it feels like the grind one would expect at mid-level.

Summary:

Jute farm growth reduced to 50% (And I need 976 :o )

Improved Crafted Coarse Gloves XP dropped from 24xp to 5xp at level 4.

Need to make 122 level 4 gloves (crafting requirement) to get from level 4 to 5.

This just seems so excessive to progress from level 4 to 5 in tailoring.

The crafting xp may be too low at lower levels - we'll take a look at it :)

May be? Definitely is.

Either a lower XP needed to level or more XP gained.

It was fine as it was before this patch. Took long enough but didn't consume every waking hour.

But, can't complain too much. This is beta after all.

It was more to correct an issue at higher levels of crafting but the update may have had an adverse effect at lower levels. Don't worry - we'll take a look into it :)

The top levels are 17-18 right now, they have to work around the high level content for the future as-well so I'm sure whatever high-end changes they made were for quite later on :).

Right now as a level 11 player I'm making 97 XP with making level 5 potions while having Alchemy level 6.
The XP needed to get from level 11 to 12 is over 100,000 XP. So it takes around 1,200 potions to get to level 12.

Also I get 5 experience in Alchemy each time. With 1050 points needed to get from Alchemy 6 to 7 it takes around 210 potions.

This seems rather ok to me, but the thing I worry about is that the experience point per potion hasn't gone up over time, while the experience needed grows with 200 points each level of a profession.

Levelling crafting skills should be on par with character levelling. It's very frustrating when you move to a new zone and you can't harvest anything because your skills' lvl is too low. This is CB so not many ppl are currently playing the game, but once Eldevin goes OB it will be a pain in the rear to level up crafting 'cause apart from mining and farming, there are not many resources available to begin with.

If you do apply a formula to crafting xp don't use it for the entire spectrum; allow higher xp rate at lower lvl and slightly decrease it as the skills reach a higher lvl.

I understand you're prolly trying to fine tune the crafting system so that it will keep ppl busy for months instead of days, but on the other hand ppl should feel their effort is worth it and right now there's a lot of grinding involved with minimal results plus a lot of hassle due to running back and forth. And please add all the crafting ingredients to the NPCs near the resources - for ex adding the freakin' rivets to the NPC running the blacksmith shop near the mine, 'cause it's a real pain to be forced to go to Eldevin to get 'em from another shop (not to mention some ppl not knowing where to get them in the first place). And so on...

You can by Rivets from one of the NPC's in the tent area right beside him.

At level 12 I make 123 XP per potion and I need around 147,000 XP for a level.
So the XP per potion rose with 27%, and the XP needed for a level rose with roughly the same.

At Alchemy level 6 I make the same amount of experience in the profession: 5 per potion. But I now need 1250 for the next level.

The scroll bar is way too subtle. Plus this NPC is the first you will come across with a scroll bar so you're probably not looking for it anyway. ;)

Levelling crafting skills should be on par with character levelling.

Generally speaking, I agree. I guess it depends on how rare you want crafters to be. If you're like me and you want to be able to craft every item you wear and the weapon you wield, and it takes just as long to level these skills as it does to level your character, then it will take you exactly 3x longer to level your character than it does for others. However, if crafting takes say... 4x longer to advance than character leveling, then it would take you 16x longer to reach the same character level as another player.

I guess it would be nice if leveling craft skills didn't quite take as long as leveling your character. But as I said, it depends on how rare HC wants crafters to be.

Well with the high prices of the items in NPC shops it kind of makes sense to produce as much stuff as possible for your own benefit.

But the issue is that some skills are way to difficult to level up because there are very few resources. For ex mining is easy because all you need is in one place, but cutting trees is a pain since there are so few of them and scattered all around the map.

I'd hate to see only the CB testers becoming highly skilled crafters simply because we had more time to learn where the resources are and by the time the new players get it as well, we'd be too advanced to catch up...

You don't want crafting to level as fast as you're char. That would be way too fast. As you get xp from just about everything you do, and alot from quests, leveling becomes quite fast. Crafting is actually intended to be something to do at end game for more content and as a money maker. If it is too easy to level than what do you have left to do end game when it comes to skills like that. Essentially nothing.

While I do agree it can't be too slow as that becomes just a long boring pointless grind, it also can't be too fast as it becomes a pointless activity because everyone will be maxed and no one will need to buy. Yet again making it useless. you make 1 for yourself and you have an ability with absolutely no use.

But, Early levels in these abilities should level quickly. As you progress the leveling should obviously slow down. Currently At level 5 it takes approx 1500~ xp to level one ability @ 5xp ish per task this becomes a VERY long process. Something along the lines of what you "should" expect at say level 15-20. Not level 5. But, this is CB after all so lots of time for HCS to adjust until it sits perfectly.

I disagree with that, it is a matter of opinion. That also makes all crafting pointless except for the highest level. Lots of players (like me for example) like to craft their own gear as they level. Also, money is always good... during the beginning and middle especially. End game money is less important (because you have everything), that is why there are usually high level money sinks.

You are correct, I want crafting to level *faster* than my character.

Crafting should be firstly something uselful. I hate the games when you have to craft heaps of low lvl stuff just to be able to craft later on some endgame gear.

Crafting should help you advance in game: like being able to craft your gear set when you need it, make pots you can use at that lvl and so on.

Eldevin system's is fairly similar to RS's, with the following exception: in RS resources of all lvls are mixed up and all over the place, while in Eldevin it seems to be map & level based: once you move to higher lvl zones, the requirements to farm the resources available in those areas go up.

Runes of Magic had such a system and it was so annoying because you'd see all these high lvl players harvesting resources in low lvl maps...it felt like going backwards.
