I'm a min maxer, but even if I were not I'd still want a little more info on exactly what the stats do.  For example with focus it increases accuracy and crit chance.  But then you have something like Melee, Ranged or Sorcery which increase effectiveness of styles.  Whats the draw back for say like only going Focus and not investing in a specific?

What are some things people have learned in terms of how these stats are best utilized and the importance of say one thing over another??

Melee, Ranged, and Sorcery attributes increase the respective attack power and haste.  Attack power increases the respective DPS, which is the number you see referred to on skill tooltips.  Haste reduces cooldowns of skills.

I like three stats: Vitality, main stat (melee/ranged/sorcery), and Focus.

If you don't have 3.3k health at level 20, expect to get 1-shot during boss fights in Ohdar.  I haven't encountered any other health checks, but I like to be around 4.2k near 30.  If you plan on tanking, aim for 6k.

Neglect Energy, it comes in bulk on jewelry.

Focus I like to dump points into until approaching 33% crit chance and 90% accuracy.

Remaining points go toward main stat.

Depends what build you're playing but a good average is 1 point vit 4 points main stat 1 point focus.

If you wanna take more damage 2 points vit 3 point main stat 1 point focus.

(Per level)

It will be nerfed soon. So dont expect to need the 3.3k HP (and yeah thats pretty much how he hit me at lvl 28 too. me having 3480HP).

2-2.5k is a guess that nerf will be changed too. Might see other stuff too, not sure.

I've done some messing around with my character, basically just timing how long it takes to kill monsters my level.  I found that on Ranger at level 15 vs level 15 monster:

6 Ranged = anywhere from 2 to 7 second fights

5 Ranged / 1 Focus = anywhere from 4 to 5 second fights

4 Ranged / 2 Focus = almost always 4 seconds, occasionally upto 5 seconds

3 Ranged / 3 Focus = almost always just below 5 seconds, very stable dps

2 Ranged/ 4 Focus = almost always over 6 seconds

This is using the rotation of just hemorage, then black arrow, then 2 normal attacks, black arrow, repeat.  I also have the 20% black arrow crit talent.
