What do you want out of a guild?

If you want to pvp then joining a big guild makes sense, plenty of existing guild structures to give you enhancements , however you can expect a minimum experience level threshold and certain contributions in gold / game time and possibly FSP.

If you just want to pvm then forming your own guild to provide some boosts to your stats and the possibility of others joining and helping to further boost stats and form attack groups to kill larger mobs may appeal.

The answer to your question may be as simple as asking whether or not you can afford or want to afford the time and FSP it takes to make a guild successful. Nobody is wanting to support somebody else's guild more than the founder of that guild is willing to do for him or her self, so when planning or deciding things, assume that any members that you get, will likely invest no more than you are willing to invest for yourself.

If you cannot or do not want to put so much into it, then your best option may be to join an existing guild. If, on the other hand, you do want to spend time and FSP on building a guild from the ground up, then stick with it and make it work. I would, however, recomend that you "leave" that guild and create another if you wish to stick with your own guild, because the guild's name is something permanent and more thought about long-term goals should be considered when choosing a guild name. Any changes that might require dropping the guild and creating a new one should be done before you invest too much into it.
