the 2 fsp sounds more like a prep to the equipment to allow the hellfire to be put in item

Ok my bad with the price thingy but what LordAtog said :P

yes the gold being use to hellforge will reduce gold in circulation and thus at least slow FSP inflation as Mercenaries did when they were released..

could also have a small failure chance like 5% or an even smaller unforge chance ie starting at unforged but i dont agree with breaking the item....

I think the new way for the hell forge would work better. Let's run with it and see who trips first! You know, it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye-then it's just plain HILARIOUS!

1. FSPs are differently valuable in different countrys: for u guys in US, its much easier to obtain these (FREE offers USA:Other_Countries - 50:1 or smth like that; donating via sms - just some EU countries etc.). SO now gold could be more usefull and could give more opportunities to compete with those guys who have 'easier-to-get' FSP. (Even 'FSP-ing' for recruiting does not work well (my own experience - dynamic or hidden IPs etc..:(..).
2. Because of reasons, described in paragraph No+1, both auction house and marketplace, will become much more versatile.

-
1. Have u analyzed that idea deeper? I`m afraid, the control over 'the market' could be lost. Like the opening of marketplace was suspicious idea, which slightly distorted old stock fsp-gaining.

=
Considering all described above - Ok, THE IDEA is good..

P.S. I like that game for its well-determined (& wisely-determined) rules. Respect.

I vote yes for the idea. The % gain is a great thought! but as posted before keep it fair for lower levels and upper levels. Maybe have the hellforge differentiate between level of item being forged and charge a lower gold price for this, and vice versa for higher levels. (If this is even possible?)

The idea as presented does this—the price is a multiple of the item level.

As it is presented it's a great idea, except it will make the crafting obsolete

Not a bit... well, except perhaps for those items that only gain a maximum +5 to only one stat at "Perfect" level (which is a different problem). Some items receive massive bonuses for Crafting... Darklore Rune, Hammer of the Deep, etc. And consider that it's now possible to reliably get "Average" or better with just 1 FSP (with the new Crafters Workshop guild structure)... the cost of Crafting is not significantly higher than the (gold) costs proposed. Besides, some people will go for every point they can get....

Told you someone would raise this, though. :?

could also have a small failure chance like 5% or an even smaller unforge chance ie starting at unforged but i dont agree with breaking the item....

I don't much care for this idea—particularly not the chance of "breaking" an item. At worst, it should be a random chance of getting different stats—a "lower quality" item, as with re-Crafting. Otherwise, the first time someone's Perfectly-crafted Mancrusha Armor gets "broken," you'd never hear the end of it.

So, introduction of hellforging for gold will actually put FSP-rich folks at even GREATER advantage, because so far their only use for gold was guild/personal banks and upkeep, whereas now they'll be able to hellforge practically everything.

Again, I have to disagree... the only "advantage" FSP-rich players would have here is that they could more easily raise the gold needed for Hell Forging by selling those FSP... which would drive the market price down—allowing those who don't have easy access to FSP greater opportunities.

I like the idea . I don't suppose there's a way to introduce "Guild naming" an item at the same time ?? It would cut down on the scam artists.

This is similar to an idea I have yet to present... gotta get it ironed out here. If it goes over, though, you're gonna love it. (It will appear on its own thread... I'll try to remember to let you know when I post it. :) )

Well, imagine two players on the same level, say 85. Player A has easy access to free FSP offers of many kinds, player B lives in the Czech Republic :) They both earn the same amount of gold each day - and player B needs a reasonable sum of FSP to buy necessary equipment (not talking about Deep Set here :), I lived without it up to 110 :). So, when the day ends, Player A has sold player B some FSPs. The situation could well be that they now have the same amount of FSPs and Player A has all the gold :) - so player A can afford to have all the equipment hellforged and therefore will gradually gain advantage (both against creeps and in PvP).

I think that this idea would actually open the scissors between US and non-US players even more...

Making gold in the AH is a lot easier than making FSP.

Player B would just need to trade a bit more and gain more gold, in order to level out with Player A.

I like the idea of it being fair for low and high lvl players. I haven't forged an item except once because I get few FSPs, but that's just me.

The idea of hellforging with gold is Awesome
But please verify everything so we dont get an abuse or bugs on the items,
and everything will be cool,

and just a question:
what is going to happen with the items with hellforge already?

:)

Sounds great! Only problem I can see is the returning of fsp to the owners. Most hell-forged items have been sold and people would basically be getting free fsp for nothing. Maybe take that part out. Other than that, I think it is a great idea!

They more than likely paid for the items, though. And if they gave nothing back to things already hellforged... many players would have a fit.

I love this Idea ( of course I do, I was in a conversation with Seath and Hoof when it was created, Props to Seath for this one, Great Idea ) I would like to point out that I think the projected costs may be a little high. By the figures on the first page, a level 100 piece of gear would cost a total of 2fsp and 300,000 Gold to fully forge. Thats a lot of gold for 20 to each stat on that piece of gear. For a level 180 piece of gear it would cost 2 fsp and 540,000 Gold to gain +36 to each stat on the item. This is helpful as far as the amount of stats you gain, but is it worth the cost. If the prices stay the same as proposed I know that I will treat the Hell Forge as I always have, and not use it much. Taper the cost calculation a little bit, then you will have a ton of people using it to upgrade their equipment. So when you are looking at this proposal, calculate how much it would cost you to forge a item that you have, then ask your self if you would actually do it for that price. lets make sure that it is effective when it is implemented
