The proposed changes would include taking the game down for a short period of time and "unforging all items" and returning any spent FSP to their owner.

I simply can't see the reasoning behind all your comments on the fsp return.

Is it stated quite clearly in the initial post. The items will be unforged and the fsp returned to the owner. What' is so hard to understand about that? And how do you think the reaction would be from any owner of a forged item, if HCS did not live up to their promise.

Besides there is no other 'fair' way to do it. The current owners bought the items with the added hell forge value, at a price agreed upon with the seller. Now this extra value is being removed. It is no concern of HCS how much or how little people paid for that extra value. The official value of hell forging an item is - up to now - 50 fsp. And since this is expropiation, the official value counts, not trading prices or any other fictive price.

I can see some technical problems though with deciding the ownership of an item with a bid in the AH.

I agree to refund the FSPs of the hellforged items ppl have now. But what about the unhellforged items that were done? I know I did it a few items and only got half back... why did I did it? I needed the fsps and ppl usually don't buy them for the full price of the hellforge. What will happen in that situation?

If you already unforged the item then take your loss and move on. HCS can't start to pay back everyone who unforged their items. You knew it was possible they'd eventually upgrade the forge and took a chance so there you have it, not a big deal. Kind of like the people that paid for a skill reset and got a free reset a week after, they probably felt cheated but it's their fault.

I seriously doubt if the game tracks who forged an item initially anyway, so the data on who forged it is probably unrecoverable—at least without searching every single daily backup for forging actions. There's no reason the game should track who forged something: the FSPs are spent, that specific item (that is, it's unique character string on the server) gets a sub-string appended to it indicating it has been forged and to what level... end of story. The only thing HC can do is return the FSPs to the present owner of the item... or to nobody at all.

Still no hell-forge upgrade? I'm really looking forward to this :)
Cheers!

I'm sure it's coming. Consider how much was already in the latest upgrade... HC wanted to get these in place and the bugs ironed out before making another massive upgrade. And consider how many people are going to rush to the Hell Forge when it is installed... server's going to lag like crazy, probably, as people dump resources into it—and discover the inevitable bugs that pop up when any change is made.

Give it time. A couple more days, I'm sure... but it's on its way.

Any news on when the new hellforge will be implemented?

No, but I have a possible clue: they've apparently finally gotten around to clearing out the inactive accounts... at least from what I hear from some low-level guildmates. Which would be an obvious prelude to the upgrade, so that they don't have to refund FSPs to zillions of accounts that might get hacked (or, heaven forbid, reactivated).

Not to mention that it's a welcome and long-overdue action all by itself. :D

after the second level, yes. If they stick with the initial plan, it will cost FSP to forge the first level.
