Here's my suggestion for a gold sink:
Allow players to remove an active buff into a tin can for later use. Suggested mechanics:
1) Canned buffs NOT tradeable at all (see poll options, I suggest this one because I didn't bother to think about possible abuse in trade)
2) Only one can of each buff can be stored at the same time
3) Canning cost based on player LEVEL and required efficiency (with the maximum efficienty being somewhere between 50-80% of the current buff time)
The main reasons for this?
1) Getting a buff upfront when I know that i.e. I will be playing at a bad time when the provider isn't available (esp. useful for rare skills)
2) Storing expensive buffs when I just started playing and suddenly had to leave for whatever reason.
3) Possible use for any system downtime - the system could can the buffs for free and put them into the item mailbox.

I think that especially in smaller guilds it could be used a lot - or generally in guilds where there's only one or two sources of a particular buff. We're top 30 guild and have only one player with doubler
- so I'd gladly pay 10k for canning a doubler that he gives me when he's online... and have it available whenever I need...
