The new structures are out, but still the regular way. I understand that many might disagree, but if those new enhancements are so special, wouldn't it be appropriate to set some limitations for getting them, for example, by making the structures that add them excludable: either you get one, or the other. Any official response on why exactly is this idea so bad would be appreciated..

You should rate its value as an element of the game, not as a threat to your personal gain. Getting all buildings and taxing for them is not all there can be, let's add a bit of diversity to FS!

I voted Bad, mainly because I would not want members limited in their game play by having a specialised guild.

The guild should be able to support members with buildings/upgrades on what ever they want to do at a certain point in their FS career, else they would start guild hopping every time they want to play a different aspect of the game and make the most of it.

A guild is a group of players with similar goals and interests, or at least that's how it should be. Instead of motivating this kind of approach, FS mechanics currently only favor guilds that are 'best at everything', therefore people put no thought into choosing a guild, only the numbers.
Even if they start to leave (although it would hardly ever happen), why not? The guild dynamic in this game is simply not present, players just want to be in the top guild that tries to be everything to everyone. I think that a good game must be balanced, as well as allow its players to have some specialization.

I think it's a good idea if the old buildings are kept and the new ones aren't too powerful. That way, no matter which new building 'set' you get, your character will be be better than it is now(or no worse off if your guild doesn't buy them) but not so much so that players are overpowered.

New buildings will be added anyway. Some were already added recently. So, the only question is, will they be added the old, boring way or this way..

As for those who still want to have everything.. At the cost of demolishing and building again, guilds could easily switch between different bonuses when necessary. The game would only benefit from it. That would be another gold sink after all. :]
