I have just initiated a quest that requires me to kill three targets that are much larger than I am, and the character that gave me the quest says "Be advised weakling, you cannot kill them yourself. Get yourself a solid group..."
I was wondering about how the Group Attack works, and I know that each person in the group devotes a certain amount of Stamina and also that the gold/xp is shared.
How does the battle itself work out? Does each person get hit in turn by the creature? If one person gets defeated, does the group fail, or just continue without them? As well, if someone gets defeated, do they lose XP/Gold the same as in normal combat?
Thanks,
Moraelyn

nope. once you have created the attack group (which will cost you 20 stam) other members of your guild can join your group (cost to them is 5 stam). You are now the group leader and the stats for the group (atk/dam/def...etc.) will be your stats + 20% of the stats of EACH person that joins your group.
Example: say your Attack is 100. guild mates A & B join your group (you must have at least 2 other people to do a group attack) A's attack is 60 and B's is 140. Your group now has an attack rating of 140 (your 100 + 12 (20% of A's 60) + 28 (20% of B's 140)). When you meet the elite you are hunting, use the group attack button (nothing's more irritating than hitting the regular attack button by mistake and getting your tail kicked
) Combat takes place and exp is awarded (mostly to you, but a bit to other group members - not enough to really be worth anything though) The point of groups is to get an elite drop, get a kill you need for a quest or to capture a relic. If the elite does drop an item, it will be placed automatically in the guild store (make sure there's a free spot there!) If your guild has the Military Adviser structure, you can view your groups stats - great to assess your chances of winning or determine you need to sweettalk a few more mates in to joining your group. Mercenaries can greatly improve your group's stats if you can afford to hire them- just remember that while a merc is great help killing big critters, their stats DO NOT aid in capturing relics.

So what happens to the elite item if your group is not a guild? is it distributed randomly or not at all?

One other question about group attack:
I have a few unfinished quests that require me to kill the bad guy using a group. I've seen some groups in my guild, and it shows a time when the group expires, at least, I think that's what it says.
If I create a group, can I attack my bad guy anytime before the group expires, or do I have to wait until that time is up before I can attack?
Also, this one quest involves killing three bad guys, at three different points in the game. Will I have to create a new group each time I want to kill the next bad guy?
Thanks.

You need to use the group before the group expires. Once the time is up the group is gone. A group is only good for one attack so you will need to make three groups for that quest. But you can only make them one at a time
