the thing about this game is that it is player driven... meaning we create teh price ourselves... there is no vendor... there is no shop to sell back to... it is all player driven...
by implementing this you would take teh already dry market and kill it...
I'm finding many items that would haw kicked ass with teh steep set are non existent on teh ah cause people are destroying them... teh few I get atm are cause some people like to try to gain something from their junk... and well it is cause of that that I can 2 hit those nasty realms others are 3 hitting...
teh fact is if this gets added in they will think that instead of renewing their auctions 10 times or so they will just smelt teh item and teh ah will be dead at higher levels...
and that is why I don't like this idea... it would kill one of teh aspects that makes this game great...

I know the Games economy is suposted to be player based...but it isent 100% and it is imposible to be 100%. this would not change the economy that much...its will just bring some sort of value to otherwise useless items.

dude you SERIOUSLY need to post a tutorial on how to use ur brain ........ the noobs might find it useful as you have come up w/ some of the best ideas i have seen here ....... i like this idea .... mainly cause im dropping items so often ........ seriously .... the items i get aren't evem selling at the AH for 500 gold
and well my point to rellik is that if I can't get teh items I need while hunting and if they were available in teh ah I could just buy them and move on... I mean it could ideally take weeks just to get 1 drop with crappy luck... and I think we should try to keep teh economy as player based as possible...
as for brishu, you can destroy them if you really want to... but if you get in that habit you may find yourself destroying items that are worth something like everyone else does... try going to rubikmans site and lookin for items with teh best armor or attack for a level 270... tell me how many you can find on teh ah... next to none... yet people still ditch them as soon as they get them...

in this game others where 3 hitting most of teh levels I am currently 2 hitting... I have been mixxin it up and 2 hitting them...
people not that far behind me may be 1 hitting some of those levels even...
there isn't 1 set in stone way to pass though a level...
and I find it more fun to try to figure out setups and stay near teh top as much as I can...
if you wanna sink to teh same spot you are and nevar try anything new be my guest, but you'll get bored 1 day... trust me on that...
I know you do gfx work...
well if everyone cloned teh exact thing other people did there, you would just have 1000 files of teh same image... with maybe 10 or so images... but they don't... and that is why there are 1,000,000s of tutorials that people reference... and not even strictly copy... they pull aspects from all of those and things that they have seen and merge them... thus forming a new style... and then go off to write tutorials on that...
if you ever wanna be great at anything you can't just follow teh steps of everyone else... cause if you do that you won't ever pass them up...
and well if you wanna just stay in teh exact same place you are in right now what is teh point of playing? or even leveling...

One of the best suggertions ive ever seen, but instead of lottery like thing with points.. you trade points for items that are only avalible in the fire pit!!!!!
Good original suggestion (but main idea has come from a different thread where items would be made into scrap)
But I rather see like spamking phippsey suggested that you trade the points for items which are only available in the fire pit instead of a lottery

Nice idea.
How about combining 2 ideas? Items that are destroyed make certain components that could later be used in creating potions?

If players can get potions from destroying items, they won't spend their gold on potions. In which case, your item sink will negate a gold sink, and I'd much rather have a gold sink. Too many items don't really have a negative affect on gameplay, too much gold definitely does.
The same could be said for items gained from this.. If the items are equal or better than items from shops, a small amount of gold will remain in the game, that would have been taken out before.
SO... I think either add a small gold cost for each item put into the fire pit(I'm talking like 100-1000 gold or something) or make bonuses that won't detract from gold sinks.[/i]

huh .... guess i didnt think of that ...... how about a fixed location for the fire pit ...... say at a couple of lvl 1-50 realms ..... like Krul beach forest east(the one w/ the portal to Varas Dungeon) ....... and anyone who wants to use it has to go there to do it???? and maybe it costs additional gold to do it ..... gold is dependant upon item lvl and teh item is bound and non-tradeable .......
might add a nice twist to the game. and a gold sink .......
