Is the Sanctuary a good idea?

  1. Voted Yes - Everyone needs a place where they can be safe. (412 votes [60.59%])

The Sanctuary
This would be a place where you are immune for PvP, but it would cost you gold per hour to stay in it.

Reasons for the Sanctuary:
1) You've just leveled and need to log off, but don't want to loose you new level due to PvP.
2) Some player is hounding you, it's a place to hide.
3) If you are going on holiday, your character will be truly safe from de-leveling.

Comments would be appreciated.

no... as u answered in the poll "PvP has always been an important part of Fallen Sword, this would damage that!"

if this is done u can clearly say PvP is dead

you better guys find a solution to make it more attractive not avoiding it.

I have some question :D :

1- Is it a Guild Structure ?

2- How much will it cost and upkeeps ?

3- How many levels it has ?

4- I see some abuse in this like "I attack some1 for golds then hide immediately in Sanctuary" !

5- When will it be added ?

No, we thought it would be like a Shop or Relic. A building you would travel to. But that might idea might be ok. I personally think it should not be a Guild structure. Not everyone is in a Guild.

At this time we are NOT implementing the idea. We simply want it to be discussed. What do you guys think of it?

What if a player just PVP and stole a huge amount of gold, he can then hide in the sanctuary for 48 hours to avoid any bounty?
I suppose if you make the BB board supersede the sanctuary then it makes more sense.

Sorry - I ment to say Bounties would be able to be done on someone inside the sanctuary.

In that case make Sanctuary a Building and not a Relic.

I voted "no". I think that it would be much better for the game to give some protection to newbies only.
What about PvP opt-in for low levels?

I.e. if you are below level 20 or so, you cannot be attacked by anyone UNLESS you attack someone first. This would give everyone enough time to get familiar with the game... I've heard stories about people who started playing and left in disgust because overnight they were targeted and beaten to small pieces...

We're thinking more about a building on the map (like a relic), but more in the form of a tavern or inn that you can 'rest' in for 'x' gold.

what about the price? Is it going to be a lot or just small fee? different for different lvls or same price for all? One sanctuary or more of them? close to portal, or on remote place?
imo:
The price should not be too small - we still want to keep def sets in game right? it should be something like 50% of daily income.. so it should be different for different lvls..
One sanctuary on remote place (100+ stam to get there) should be enough..
as for Coyotik: maybe not lvl restriction, but time restriction - like one week maybe? thats pretty much the same as 20lvls :>

I am just thinking out loud, if I go on a 4 weeks holiday (LOL I need one right now to get away from work), and the cost is 50% of daily income, then when I come back I will be broke, or run out of money and get kick out.
And once you are inside, maybe you will not be able to do anything, even trading from AH (only can sell what you already listed). This will discourage people to pop in, only use if they will be away for a while, which is what the sanctuary is all about anyway.

I vote no. PvP is already hard enough to do. There are already plenty of ways to protect gold, shill auctions, buying fsp w/gp, buying extra depos with RL $. Most of the time if someone gets attacked repeatedly their guild will hold a deleveling party. If the person doesn't belong to a guild it incourages them to do so. At which point they quickly get back to where they were lv wise, well at least quicker than if they didn't belong to a guild.

I thought I would hate this, BUT I can see it working under a few conditions.

-Like hoof said it should be a place on the map, so a player would have to spend stamina to get there.
-The gold cost to hide should be level dependent, PvP is entirely dead past lvl 150, and beyond dead in the higher ranks.
-The gold cost should be enormous, bare minimum it should be what a player could make in 24 hours, so people don't sit in sanctuary 24/7

A few other ideas, because I feel PvP is dead, and this is unneeded
-Stamina, xp, and gold gains should all suffer a 20% penalty while in the sanctuary.
-Players should have limited access to game features while in the sanctuary - no auction house, no bounty board, no marketplace, etc


:wink: PvP is already dying.... if you implement this, please be careful.

I've voted yes, but i am not sure about this. It should be not a place in which someone can repair everytime and from everywhere, because this would make pvp die...everyone doesnt like to be attacked, so sanctuary would always be full.

So i propose to introduce some limits:
- of space: only a limited number of players for every range of levels can reach it, and not from every location, but in special realms, maybe through portals
- of time: not less than 2 days, adding day by day (hours makes it ridiculous) and no superior limit
Another thing: once someone gets in, he has to decide at the start how long he wanna stay in sanctuary, and he cannot interrupt.

This would prevent that pvp disappears, in my opinion.

id say yes - fairly new to the game but cannot imagine that this would end PvP but it would help those on vacation and end relentless hounding attacks and it would also allow people who have large amounts of money for a moment keep it safe - for a moment. Like when selling at marketplace so you can buy something on AH which is perversely priced in gold. But it shouldn't be easily used or popped in and out of at whim.

So make it extremely hard or expensive - if not impossible - to leave sanctuary and then re-enter in the near term. That would protect vacationeers at the initial cost but keep hide and seek players from bouncing in and out at will. Or make it be some ordinary cost if you are there more than a week but if you try to leave early it costs a lot. (Please Sir, we just saved your bacon. Don't you think you should be more generous in your donation? heh)

Finally it is good that bounty would not be excluded, for obvious reasons.
