hrmm... with a lockout from the marketplace, so people don't sit there and screw with the marketplace anyway; making back that gold easy.

That's my only problem with this right now, safety while you're able fix the marketplace.

People already do that Regnier7.. The MP would have to be still accessable, for the players wanting to use the sanctuary to pay the fees...

If you had to leave the sactuary to get the gold to use it again it would defeat its purpose.. :?

AHH, history revisited. :)

One would think, with all of the upgrades to the PvP system, HCS could see that the MP is already being manipulated by whomever, to the point where it is becoming impossible for lower level players to earn enough to convert to FSP for character upgrades.

Yes, we have all sorts of ways to hide our gold, some safer than others. Let's look at ways to hide gold~
1) Send it off to a higher level mate or ally to hold until you are finished hunting. (Hopefully they don't get hit while they are holding it.)
2) Invest in potions on the AH, bidding on long term bids so they don't end before you are finished hunting, thus returning a lost bid back to you before you are finished hunting (Of course, you would need to be wary of AH PvP trolls looking for just such events.)
3) Sell it on the MP for a very high price. (Hope it sells quickly, before someone spots you with the Helper)
4) Post a long term auction of a very garbagy item on the AH, send your gold to a friend or mate to bid on it in ever increasing increments, then when the auction is over, you have your deposits available for you to deposit your gold. (Of course, you would need to be wary of AH PvP trolls looking for just such events "Hey, Oblivion's auction is about to expire, and it has a 2 million bid on it").
5) Bank what you can when you can, then find a PvPer in your range and send them the rest, after all, that is all they want, is your gold. (They aren't in it for the thrill of PvPing, or for making you feel like a loser.)

The major thing here, is without the advent of lower MP prices, or better control over the MP, those "hiding" places do us no good in obtaining the necessary FSP for character upgrades. That goes both ways. No character upgrades, no leveling, no gold gain by "levelers", no gold for "PvPers" to take. If players can't level, then there is nothing to gain from leveling. Where does this lead to? Well, it could lead to "levelers" quitting the game (again, no one for gold thieves to hit) or it could lead to "levelers" turning to PvP (to many gold thieves, not enough leveling, not enough gold to thieve). Now, since HCS gets it's income from donators to the game, then that would mean the only donators would be PvPers, as the levelers have either quit (can't upgrade their characters, not enough gold to buy FSP), or levelers have turned to PvP. Then, what purpose is there to PvP. You would just be attacking each other and taking each other's gold, so then you would be padding the MP to get rid of it quickly also so you can keep yourselves in the equipment style you would like to have. Either way you look at it, if a player can't keep their gold safe enough to be able to afford FSP, then the game dies.

I know what happens on the MP, I have watched it repeatedly. I also know why it is so high. Players are afraid their gold will be stolen, therefore they keep putting it on the board higher and higher to get rid of it quickly. The same is happening on the AH, players are bidding higher and higher, to keep their gold safe.

1) Give players a safe space, where they can have their gold, and be able to do something with it,
or
2) Control the MP better. Otherwise, this game will be gone for sure. There aren't enough high level players, to keep the balance in the game.

For those complaining about not having enough PvP targets at your level, then I suggest 1 of 2 things: 1) Get deleveled to the level where all the PvPers are, or 2) Get the lower level PvPers to level up. Then, you would have sufficient targets to PvP.

FYI, we used to have a very good way to keep our gold safe, but PvPers felt bank to bank transfer was being abused by gold hoarders, so therefore, HCS did away with it.

Sanctuary protects gold? Fine with me. Sanctuary prevents incoming hits? No.

Like I said, the sanctuary may protect your gold at a cost from incoming attacks, I'm fine with that. But I'm against protection of being hit, even at the sanctuary.

For your information, I ain't in it for gold. I couldn't care less about gold, I can afford everything on my own. Again, I don't mind if the Sanctuary protects one's gold for a cost as long as it doesn't protect players against incoming attacks.

I have many reasons to hit people. Currently, I 100 stam people on the ladder in my range hourly to strip them of the rating they farm from lower levels.

Usually I hit people if they're annoying lol, and often level up to their range if it's quite close to my own to do so. Other than that, I PvP to have fun. Titan Hunting and PvPing keep me interested in the game.

Yes. Being on the board is fun, too. I've lost over 100 levels in the past few months, obvious to say I don't care about levels. The thrill and "risk" is what keeps me in it.

So it is the thrill of the risk of? Winning? Beating someone else who is not prepared to be attacked? Not knowing if you will be bountied or not? :)

lol.... I always hope to get hit back but eh, always end up on the board, not complaining about it though cause there are people who DO hit me when I am on the board.

I'm trying to explain that I like to PvP, and to get PvPed against therefore something like ending up on the board is a good thing for me, when I am online of course because I then can get PvPed against and have the attackers put effort in their attacks.

That's another reason why I 100 stam folks, to end up on the board.

And Uhmm.. I don't beat up on people that are "un-prepared". I have been 100 stamming someone hourly for a few days straight. And that person was always heavily buffed up with a nice suit on. ;)

Ahhh, so you only attack players who know beyond a shadow of a doubt they are going to be attacked, and are always prepared for your 100 stam attacks? :) You never hit players who have no clue they are going to be 100 stammed? :)

Unless I specifically level up to hit someone, then yes I do not hit unprepared buff-less people.

When I am annoyed, then I don't care if that person is prepared or not. Someone that's asking to be 100 stammed hourly, gets it. This player was always prepared after day 1 lol. He had pots and buffs all day long and had several friends buffing him over and over when they ran out. I even 100 stammed him over and over when he even was online. ;)

So everyone you hit, always knows you are about to hit them? Just out of curiosity, do you send them a PM prior to hitting them to let you know they are about to be hit? Or just how do they know they are about to be hit by you? :)

People always know why I hit them, or going to hit them when in range and thus mostly are prepared for it as I have a valid reason to 100 stam 'em hourly. ;)

Like I said, the reason why I hit my targets are usually known by them as they cause it theirselfs and therefore are prepared. Some are, some are not. As I was saying, I don't care if some are not prepared if I get annoyed by 'em.

I don't think that the sanctuary should protect my experience points. That would put an end to PvP, and I take great joy in offering bounties.

Actually I don't know if the rising FSP prices are a big problem, but it is fun to discuss economy :)

How about allowing players to deposit in the bank several times a day? Then you could attach a huge tax to the second deposit.

It could also be fun to have a kind of "guild structures" that were bought on a gold auction. Perhaps the total number of "XXX totems" in the game could be limited, and each month they could be awarded to the guilds that paid the most gold in a closed auction.

EDIT: If the sanctuary is very expensive then the poorest players will not be able to use it. I don't know if this is good or bad, but I have a feeling that the sanctuary will make the rich players richer and the poor players poorer.

Alternatively you could allow each player a additional free bank deposit of 100*level GP each day. This would allow the poor players to hide their GP's, while the rich players still served as interesting PvP targets.
