but if your picture was already uploaded, then it cant better to be better quality? unless it would just add pixels to the pictures so that they're sharper? but if it cant upgrade the pictures that were already there, then you would have to upload them again, which some ppl did not do: they probably deleted them

Although I don't know any avatar makers who delete their work as they go.
Nope, all mine I have kept.
1 is the original, the other is saved as an Jpeg file. I keep them all.
As for the quality, I can see what you mean. Sometimes uploaded avatars do either become lighter in brightness, or somehow it seems red colour in avatars are affected, which is in some makers cases.
I'm not sure whether or not you can 'upgrade' your picture to get it how you view it on Photoshop/gimp or any other prgrammes, or the forum perhaps. Though I'm not sure how you could make this change.
The avatars uploaded or affected minorally, it isn't a great change, though big enough to notice in contrast to when it isn't uploaded on FS. However if it happens, I just have to fiddle around with it a little, to get it back to how it should look like. So I keep 3 copies, the one that hasn't been changed, the one that has been changed, and the final one that is saved as jpeg.
