Usual good defense and some attack stats will keep bad people from attacking.
Sometimes good armor will also keep you safe.

Generally, if you're an ALL DEF set, then you've got nothing to protect you; likewise if you're in an ALL ARM set. The important thing is to have enough ATK to be able to hit your opponent in the case they don't kill you in the first hit. Armor sets are nice because there's a possibility of Reinforced Armor, vs. DEF set where you're completely open to high ATK.

I prefer defense with over 1K attack and close to 1K damage, so i have some protection.

use armor those items tend to have good attack and defense to go wit them
