Yes I know lame joke, old comedian ripoff, but it got you to look at the thread, even if it is to flame me for being lame. Now on to business ...
Seriouse Idea
Goblin Hunting Party
Limit 1 per map area in a given level range
Stats (low level monster)
Attack 150 Defense 200
Armor 200 Damage 250
HP 200
Specials
Critical hit 5%
Piercing Strike 5%
Master Thief 1%
Avatar picture would be a bunch of goblins climbing over eachother to get infront of the camera.
Special notes. This creature attacks players when you move onto the square.
That, and below, are posts from another thread which were random at first but got better the second time around.
I wasn't refering seriousely to a god attacking you, that was a bit of a joke, but the monster posted above was more the idea I had. That could be a monster located in a level 50 or 75 range. They could have other monsters depending on the area you're in like umm ... Nomad War Party for the level 1-5 area, or maybe "Killer Bee Swarm" for that Grintz Forest area with all the bees. (level 140-145 ish)
In all honesty walking around picking what you attack is great, but I think after a while something might get upset at you being there and attack players. In that regaurd this idea came about. Each area could have its own type of monster group that is area related, the stats would be set up that the adverage player with medium gear should be able to survive it 85-90% of the time.
I edited the monster to add some possible special attacks onto it. The Master Thief idea is only semi serouse but still an option for one type of monster.
Some ideas about spawn rates and numbers are easy enough, spawns 5-15 minutes after killed in a random, valid for the monster, location. It would roam the map (if possible) randomly moving one square at a time every 1-3 minutes. If a player moves onto the square it inhabits you get attacked and a log message is sent to you "You were attacked by Goblin Hunting Party View Combat"
A secondary idea, because this monster can roam (hopefully) is it will attack you if it moves onto a location you are at. This means it might act like a pvper, except with a restriction that as long as the system registers you as logged in you're fair game if you're in it's area. (By logged in I mean that green dot that appears near your name). While the second idea is a bit less friendly, and a bit more harsh the message could be something in regaurds to "Your camp site was raided by Goblin Hunting Party and you were attacked. View Combat"
This is of coarse if they have the ability to move, if they don't then it would only be if you move onto the location they are at.
IF this last idea was implimented about having them move and able to attack players the Deflect Buff would be able to affect that and protect you. Maybe it would work at .5% per skill point against random monster attacks. IF this idea went into being you'ld recieve the message "_____ Attempted to attack you but was deflected"
-summery-
The monsters that attack players would kill the adverage player with mid line gear in 3-4 hits.
Possibly make it have the ability to move around the map and attack players it finds.
Possible new use for the Deflect Buff
Respawns apx 10 minutes after killed.
DOES NOT drop items (we have so many things that drop sets we don't need another)
In closing the monsters would be like a player, you could only get attacked once an hour by any given monster, if it actively hunted players (meaning it moves and attacks you even if you close FS for the night as long as that green dot is on.) But if it's just stationary and attacks when ever you move onto a square it occupies then it attacks you any chance it can.
Ideas opinions comments let me know?
(Edit) added below
I hadn't thought about the stamina usage for when the monster attacks you. I guess the simplest way is that it would act like a PVP attack by another player, meaning you don't need to use any stamina because you aren't chosing to attack this monster. While I know this has the chances of being abused I feel the monster would be 'rare' enough that any abuse of this effect would be negligable compaired to the stamina it used finding the monster.
In regaurds to the attack's effect I was thinking it would act like a 15 or 25 stamina hit from another player if you lost. If you win then you get the standard XP and Gold from a monster of that level compaired to what level you are.

Understood, and likely agreed. Still it would be a shock the first time you move and suddenly you get a log message that a monster attacked you.

Well the monster attacks you so I'm not sure. I know buffs like Doubler would not be active for this and I was thinking maybe no stamina at all because it's not like you're chosing to be attacked. I had the general idea it would act like a 25 stamina pvp hit, but was going to work that part out at a later point when more people weighed in on the idea.

I like parts of it. I think the realms should be alternative ones to a select few existing ones that give a bit extra xp per kill but there is the risk of being attacked by the creature. Maybe even put a really good relic in there, quest etc..
If you land on the square with the creature it should automatically go to the battle screen, after it has ended you can click go back to map.
I think it would be pretty funny if the gold stolen from players by the creature accumulates like it has its own bank account

That could bring up a new top 100 list
"Top ___ Dangerous Monsters"
These are the most dangerous monsters that hunt players based on XP or Gold lost
Could be two categories
XP lost
Gold Lost
Goblin Hunting Party .... 1,000,000 XP
Minator ....................... 781,139 XP
.
.
.
Goblin Hunting Party .... 57,001 gold
Minator ....................... 45,803 gold
Honestly it could be used to keep track of which monsters are doing what to players. If a monster is rising too quickly in the ranks compared to other monsters it could be tweaked so it was weaker. If a monster is not able to do anything at all it could be made a little stronger based on the location.
As for only having it in certain areas, agreed I didn't think it would be every level of every map, that would get tedious, but the idea was that every 10-15 levels would have 1 of this type of monster. It would stay in one region, like the Killer Bee Swarm would only appear in Grintz Forest (North) where the other groups of giant bees are found. The Goblin Hunting Party might be found in an area that would befit them, or there could be an Elven War Party that roams an area.
I'm loving this feed back, each creative idea, and every flaw pointed out brings about more about this idea and helps make it better. I hope the constructive criticism continues.
As for the gold accumulating in the monster, I think that might lead to people stalking it down for the wrong reasons. I'm open to that idea being viable but not necessarily in favor of it.

Hi there,
Pretty sure this has been suggested before, we have it in Gothador and Sigma Storm, usually referred to as First Strike, it's a nice idea and I certainly supported it last time.
However I'm aware hoof is very carefull about making any this too like any of our other games so this may be why it didn't make it in last time.
I certainly think it's a good idea, however in the other two games the advantage is that you can see these creatures are on the squares before stepping on there and so make the choice to avoid certain death, in Fallen Sword you have no idea what is on the next square.
As I said though I do like the idea, however I'm not 100% sure hoof would go for it, especially as it's an idea I've passed to him previously, but I can always try again.

That's how long I've been waiting for this game.

I thought that would make it part of the fun, you'ld have to keep up with your gear and repairs a bit more, but if you're careful, and not walking around with 300K in gold, you don't got much to lose. Still I completely understand about making the games too simular. Why play Pong when you have a Ping Pong table and a couple of friends?
On a side note, enough with the pictures please.
