Following is one of the tricks The Fallen Kings and Queens uses:
First, you must have the Master Crafter at max.
Let's use any uncrafted item as an example.
Use the Apprentice Crafter (1 FSP). It's results are supposedly totally random. Since the item is uncrafted, there is no downside to using it. Use it. I have never returned a 1 FSP uncrafted item less than Average.
Now you have an Average item or better. If it's Excellent or Perfect (it happens), stop.
When the item is Average or better, using the Adept Crafter (3 FSP) always returns Excellent or Perfect.
Remember, until somewhere in the mid level 200s, the difference between Excellent and Perfect is 1 stat point. This is no difference at all.
Also remember that crafting often (it varies by item) gives you approximately the same benefit as 5 forges, which costs much more. This is also why you should always craft before you spend FSP to forge. Why spend more money than you have to?
Also give yourself an advantage by wearing items that enhance master crafting when you are crafting. I am convinced it helps, even if your Master crafter is at max. Depending on how the programming was done, it can still be of help. I believe it does.
Enjoy.
