its not because its jpg.... its because its 11 KB.... the game compresses the image so it doesnt do much stress on the image servers....

if png was compressed to equal size it would look even worse....

No, it looks the same on other boards aswell. .jpeg is a horrible file type

maybe other boards are using the same compression technique for the same reason

Just saved it as jpeg. AND .png, obiously the png looks 10x better

1. Your photo editing software is really bad

2. Its not fair to compare 60K image to 10K image.

PNG 10 kb Posted Image <- vs -> JPEG 10 kb Posted Image

Now say which one is better.

I see the difference, but i'm also a graphical designer so that may be the reason lol...

But yeah i think it would be a good idea to allow more image file types to be used as avatars, but not only .png

I think .gif should be allowed aswell, as it allows us to have animated avatars, well it may be bad quality as .gif but i would personally like to have an animated avatar =)

Also a little hint, next time save your .jpg's a little better, as jpg's can have quite a good quality aswell if saved correctly. I.e. with Adobe Photoshop there are alot of options wich allows you to compress the image with a better quality. And i got no problem with my .jpg qualities the problem occurs when i uploade them to FS. Then they get more blurred and noisy.

*.png has better compression then *.jpg's but that is not the reason your avatars will look like crap when you upload them...

It is because HCS runs all uploaded media though a crappy compression filter which kills alot of the quality on the media...
