Pay a small fee for creating an auction.

This is how it could work:
[Level of item]*[Availability]*[crafting/HF]

Availability could be:
1 - Common
2 - Rare/Unique
3 - Legendary
4 - Crystalline

Crafting could be:
7 - Perfect
6 - Excellent
5 - Very Good
4 - Average
3 - Poor
2 - Very Poor
1 - Uncrafted

Hell Forge could be:
1 - None
2 - Level 1
3 - Level 2
4 - Level 3
5 - Level 4
6 - Level 5

As an example, I'll use Rune of Decay FF, Perfect craft:

[Level of item]*[Availability]*[crafting+HF]
[90]*[3]*[7+6]=3,510 gold

This means higher level items would have a higher fee.

Reasons why I think this idea should be implemented are: a gold sink; players would be less likely to store items in the AH (to store you have to pay a small gold fee); and many other reasons.

Post any comments you may have, or just vote in the people if you want to.

gold sink? um, but then the prices would immediately shoot up, since there would be a fee, and there would be less things in the auction house. :)

I think the fees should be like the ones on ebay. '

Insertion Fee - If you want to sell on item on eBay, you create a listing using the Sell Your Item form. When you list an item, you are charged an Insertion Fee for the listing. The Insertion Fee is based on what you decide is the Starting Price of your item or the Reserve Price if one is included. For example, you want to sell your Sony camera. You list it with a Starting Price of $60.00. The Insertion Fee would be $2.00 (from the table on the fee page).

Final Value Fee - If the item sells, you are charged a Final Value Fee. The Final Value Fee is based on the final amount the item sells for. The Final Value Fee does not include shipping costs. For example, your item sells for $153.00. Your Final Value Fee would be $6.67. This is calculated as follows: $2.19 (.0875 times $25.00) plus $4.48 (.035 times $128.00) for a total of $6.67.

[ It could help stop those people who use the AH as storage ]

Ummm yeah, Sure. I need a reason to jack some item prices higher, go ahead and talk them into giving me one. Plus you would not ever see an item below LV 10 in AH except Spine items and ragggszhas stuff. The lower levels couldnt afford the level based auction fees.

And for these reasons ---> I VOTE NO!

This idea doesn't really provide a useful action for players to use their gold. When you want to create a gold sink idea, it should have the aim to provide players to be able to do something with their gold, that could in return serve them a good purpose.

For example, the potions within the AH, serve as a gold sink, by players spending their gold buying potions and sinking the gold back into the game.

Buying tickets, serves as a gold sink, by allowing players to have a chance to recieve something in return and use their gold for something that they can win or is useful.

This is really just taking gold away for not much of a reason, you want the gold sink feature to have it's uses to a player and something that a player would want to use their gold for, not just off-handedly taking gold from a player for the purpose of eliminating gold from the game.

With regards to using the Auction House as an extra Storage space, it could stop this to an extent....however, I believe this would prevent newer players from making gold.

Some new players who are sensible enough to understand some items are worth selling, and know how to sell items to make gold, would not be be able to do so with this idea, as charging a fee would initially prevent them from using it frequently.

An auction house is like a newspaper .. it makes your items viewable to the public.

In a real life Auction House you will pay to put it on auction.. adding fees to the auction house would make it more realistic..but i would like the fees on the starting bid only. So if the starting bid is 100 FSP it would cost 5 FSP to make the auction. This could stop people for using the AH as storage.

This would do nothing but raise AH prices higher than what they are now, (EBAY has Fee on thier auctions, in return sellers just charge more for s&h).

NO

Sometimes I pick up things while hunting that I don't need. Instead of immediately trashing them, I try to get a few gold out of 'em in case someone wants 'em. If this fee was put in place, I'd just drop the items. Then there's less stuff in the Auction House.

Besides, I paid my 20 FSP for extra auction slots, so I want to use them without paying a listing fee too.

This might also encourage people to go back to advertising everything on the forum and doing trades in-game, which might or might not be done as Secure Trades, then you have more people complaining of even more scammers... meh.

Exactly.

Also, when the MP was released, it raised prices of FSP. Doing this, will raise AH prices

I dont like this (Sorry Rocket I'm in your guild).

It would be part-beneficial and part-destructable. The prices of legendaries would rise, and that is what we want. This will also stop 10 FSP SE auctions.
