But why is it ok to advertise for "FSP Loans" within the FSBox?..
The game should (IMO).. BAN this practice, and the sooner the better..
I feel strongly about this, and am fed up with KNOWN scammers trying to rip off players...
One time I sent a joke FSBox message, something like "I want FSP loan, I will pay you back next year sometime, u can trust me, ask my mum".. and got SEVERAL serious loan offers from levels 100+..
Please FS, stop this rubbish, if ONE player gets scammed, and you lose a good player from it, then the game as a whole loses :?
I know its easy to say "its their fault, they are dumb"..
But lets not gang up on any honest player with lil common sense in this thread

Did you know that there are likely over 2000 rouge black holes in our galaxy alone. Each of them can reach very high speeds, even in space terms, are each capable of destroying anything in their path, and are invisible. Well, goodnight!

Many threads have been made about scammers and FSP loans. Nobody likes the scammers, you just have to learn who is trustworthy and who isn't. Yes it is a problem, but there isn't much people can do about it.
Thanks for your post mate, but there is something we could do about it..
Ban the practice of asking for FSP loans in FSBox and Shout Box?

Just nobody send them FSP, that way when they ask for them in the FSP box or SB, then they loose 1 FSP when they do this, and stop.

This is because there are always gullible people. In a way, it definitely is their own fault. I'm definitely against the predatory aspect... though objectively... well, people really shouldn't fall for it. Those that expect to actually get 200% back on their FSP. Aren't they really just "loan sharks"?
Nonetheless, I'm not for taking advantage of ignorant players and I do think it hurts the game.
I do believe that HCS is more than aware of the situation. Unfortunately, I see how their hands are tied. These messages don't, at least currently, violate any of the HCS rules.
The problem, as I see it, is making it so these "loans" are against the rules, without having any extenuating circumstances. This is the major challenge.
If anyone could come up with a rule that doesn't cause this surveillance problem, that'd be great. But let's face it, I don't see this happening. Why?
You all know that HCS instituted the SE drop link to help out with scams on SE hunting. However, there are so many things that go on in FSBox that simply aren't controlable. If someone doesn't pay up for an SE location, what can HCS really do? If someone is "selling" a Guild and doesn't serve it up, what can HCS really do? If someone says they're selling buffs for a certain price, get paid and don't give up the buffs, what can HCS really do? The list goes on and on...
We are (well, the good people) all frustrated by the Loan scams. That is why so many of us spend our FSP to try and help warn against them.
This is no different than the e-mail spam you see every day in your inbox. I would really like to ban the FSP loan scams.... I just don't see the solution.
I "think" HCS would be happy to implement any viable solution. The problem is finding it.
In the meantime, I urge you all to do what you can: inform your players, keep an eye out on the scammers. I truly believe there is little else we can do.
Good luck and happy hunting!
