Well, this is rather good, as people could put a significant amount of gold. (That they know will be outbidded on) And then use it as a Bank deposit....

Mostly you get more worthy Items selling for FSP, however you do get some that sell for Gold for other reasons.

So this will be handy for storing some gold quickly, besides even if you aren;'t outbidded, you could make profit, seeing as you would make sure whatever amount of gold you used to store the gold wouldn't be wasted.

For the exact reason listed above is why I say no. They have "Bank Deposits" for FSP upgrades if you need to protect your gold that's the way it's supposed to be. There are other ways which I won't get into that do involve the AH but like I said I won't explain how to do it.

No, If you thought it was worth bidding on to start with it should be worth waiting to get your gold/fsp back.

i disagree ok player x has 100k player y has 100k player x bids 50k player y bids 75k well after that u should get ur gold back imediatly because u just lost and if u lost then ur not gonna pay that gold and its just hanging there and player x cant bid again cause he only has 50k left he realy has 100k but doesnt hae any acces to other 50k so he cant make an enother bid with the gold thats his just because he hasnt gotten it back yet

ok all of you with these objections
player x 100k bids 50k
player y 100k bids 75k
wow gusse what player x can bid again at any time until aution ends and raise player y as long as they bid 5% more i suck at math but it is only about say a bid of 80k it adds the 50k x intily bid and takes 30k more from them to add to auction so they can buy item if the wish to still or if the really want item put in whole 100k

But they can't use those funds to bid on ANOTHER item. That is the whole point.

Player X bids 50 for a pickaxe.

Player Y bids 500 for the pickaxe.

Player X has 100 and can buy another pickaxe but not this one. Why can't the 50 from the first item not be used on another? The point here isn't that the player CAN bid higher but that they CAN'T access the funds to bid elsewhere.

The AH could be "abused" to store gold more often as withdrawing it gets easier with a cancel button. People who store their money on the AH now are bound by the auction end times. Thus less flexability, thus less "abuse" of the AH.

It does happen every now and then that u cannot exchange ur gold for fsp on the marketplace, putting it away on the AH could be an interesting option then with a cancel button.

It all depends what one would want to accomplish with this feature.

I sort of agree with Morgwyn kind of. lol. If the gold was autoreturned upon being outbid then it wouldn't be a great way to store gold and his objection isn't a problem. If you can cancel if someone outbids you then it works as a storage of gold a bit better than now (slightly more convenient maybe).

I'm perfectly willing to compromise and have the gold stay in AH just be transferred to another bid on another item. This would mimic real life for escrows at auctions and wouldn't be all that hard to program. The time at which the funds became available for return to the player might be a slightly tricky situation but I think a scheme to take advantage of this would be highly complex and if someone pulled it off good for them. lol.

i can agree with this too. if the bid can be transferred to another item then that would also be fair.

well, this would give PvPers new means to steal. I bid 100K on a potion, they bid 125K on the potion realizing I will get my gold back, they hit me and steal the gold they just freed up. Um yeah it has potential.

^ except that the original idea was to have the option. if one is outbid then a player can opt to "end bidding" or concede that they are no longer interested in placing bids which would act like the "cancel auction". if online and one wants the gold or fsp to bid on something else, they should be able to take themselves out of the running and have the bid amount returned or (as was later suggested) be able to apply the amount in escrow to another item. if the options aren't acted upon then things stay the same.

it dosnt matter if you thought it was a worth it or not, it would still be great to be able to cancle the bid you made incase there is a better item or potion selling or youjust want to cancle the the bid to deposite the gold or save the fsp for a set.

You have to take into consideration how an auction works. IRL your offer is held in escrow until the end of the auction. The same thing holds true here. However, RL auctions also let you withdraw your bid, with applied penalties. So maybe with a little modification, this idea has merit
