Did you know that there are likely over 2000 rouge black holes in our galaxy alone. Each of them can reach very high speeds, even in space terms, are each capable of destroying anything in their path, and are invisible. Well, goodnight!

You cannot be a guild member without a guild.
Each relies on the other exist.
(Of course the real answer is neither - both belong to HCS)

A guild is nothing without its members.
Yet I feel that possession is a touchy subject.

Neither. The members ARE the guild. There is no way to "own" yourself. imo.
structures, upgrades, guild locked items, those are all part of a guild, also.

But what is the egg? The members or the guild?

Following from that, the guild belongs to the members- it is something they create.

I own myself and can sell myself to whoever for whatever price I choose...Actually, I guess it's more like renting myself!

A guild is only as good as it's members, but many players depend on their guilds to become good.
And yes, it does all come down to the founder. She/he/it can kick any member, making them not belong to the guild - but can also make the guild belong to the members in the way she/he/it runs the guild.
What came first? Well - depends on which guild Ure talking about. Sum guilds have been created by a handful of friends, and it that case - the players are b4 the guild. In most cases though, the guild is first...
To sum up - U will nvr get a clear answer, and I am very ranty when I just rolled outta bed.
No one can deny that we changed this game and influenced it in such a way that NO ONE could compete with us.. so much so that they changed the rules. ~Abhorrence, chosen founder of Cerulean Sins

Do the members belong to the guild? The members do not belong to the guild, they come and go as they please. While the members are there it is evident that anyone beyond the guild founder/people with the same power as a guild founder is little more then an asset to the guild. However members "belong" to the guild in a sense that they are currently in the guild.
Does the guild belong to the members? Nope the guild does not belong to the members, except for perhaps the guild founder or people with same power.
I see the guild founder as more then a member of the guild, lets call him the "special" member. (sorry OT
Now when the guild founder creates a guild it is in fact a separate entity, yet an entity that the guild founder has complete control over. (I guess, I never finalized plans to make one)
Therefore the only member that belongs to the guild is the one who has complete control over it because the guild belongs to him.
Or perhaps you mean does the guild exist to benefit the members, or do the members exist to benefit the guild? Well in this case I'd say its whatever contract you signed when you entered the guild.
