This might be a good idea, but it might be a very bad one also. I am not sure, which is the reason I'd like to discuss it.

The idea is to replace your level up points for an item (you can choose when creating your character) to assign your level up points on.

Why?
First reason is I think it fits the game's fantasy world a bit better.
Second reason, by making the item tradeable, it can replace the level up points reset upgrade, such items is prolly cheaper than the upgrade, and therefore is more interesting/available option to people to use it. In the end it might bring HCS more fsp than the current upgrade.
It could also exist next to the upgrade. So one can reset his "special" item. This way the AH prices of the items can be "controlled".
Third reason, it opens up new setups for levels (since you have to build a set around ur "special" item, and encourages trading on the AH, either in other sets/items or in this suggested item. More AH trade is good for the game in my opinion.

Ofcourse a character can only wear/own 1 of these items.
Other options can be to make it craftable/hell forgable. Though the item can become to powerfull then.
Players could be given 1 or 2 enhancements aswell. (say +5 for an enhancement).

Like I said, not sure if this idea is great. But it is less dull than the current skill points and adds a bit more dimention to the game.

Flame away. :P

Edit: Ofcourse I meant level up points, not skill points. Such noob I am...

I like the idea of having a "market" for level-up points. The obvious benefit is that you can switch some of your points into, say, defense for a few levels and then switch them back by selling your "gem".

I think the mechanics of this might be very complicated, particularly for low level players. There is a strange thing in this that might be hard to control. Suppose a high level player (I'll use luisspamer since he's in my guild and won't object - lol) puts all his points in damage into his "gem". So, he has a gem with 1060 damage points. What is this worth in the market? This totally unbalances the game. I agree that if he sells that gem he'll have a hard time at his own level but if someone was about to retire... they could put all their level-up points into the market.

There would need to be a way to control for this. And the mechanics might be difficult. If I could get luisspamer's "gem" of damage I could 1-hit until at least 250 I think. I like the general idea of tradeable points but the unbalancing potential is great and needs to be thought out some.

Well the balance can be easily solved. The level of the item switches along with your own level. (or half the stat points, as u get 2 points per level). That prevents a "gem" of a lvl 500 player to be falling into the hands of a lvl 5 player. :P

This way, with the level up reset option, the price is allways controlable, as nobody will spent more on the item than the upgrade costs.
