An example -
Wandering Merchant on let say Krul Island (2,2)
You saw the merchant and click on it
The merchant offers various items like Reborn Dragon Amulet/Plague Gauntlet/Fire Dragon Ring/Cereberus Shield/Thonomoth Sword/Reborn Leaf Boots/Helm of the Deep/Rune of Decay/etc
These items will be sold in gold however, the player had to have enough gold on hand at that time and had to defeat the monster which drops the item thus if i choose Rune of Decay, i had to kill The Host
Noting that if i failed to kill the creature / dun have enough gold at hand- the merchant will disappeared and will not appear for another day
Wat do you guys think of that?

He could have a set pattern of like 20 different locations that he goes through so you can sort of find him if you knew where he last was

not a bad idea at the base of it, but I think the items might need to be toned down a tad, maybe herbs and potion bottles, but he shows up at a different area for like 10 minutes then despawns and then an hour or two later he sets up shop in another area ...
He could have a set pattern of like 20 different locations that he goes through so you can sort of find him if you knew where he last was
I disagree - The point of having the wandering merchant is to let all players a chance to see him...No point in having him appearing at a set pattern...i really dun like to see this - Wandering Merchant Location Found - Selling Location in the chat box...
But i like the idea of him despawning and then respawning at any location if no one finds him and click on him within a certain period of time...

1. how do you set a fixed price on LE items in gold?
2. im not really sure how many players carry several millions of gold on them at all times
3. this will essentially be of no use, most likely it will be found by a newbie that has no clue what it was... and would get defeated by the creature hes supposed to kill.... and so on... for who knows how many days...

Let me address yr questions -
1. Easily - Simply multiply by the lvl of the item with a predefined set number like Rune of Decay - 90k gold - Lvl 90 * 1000
2. I do not do so myself
3.Tat's what makes it fun - I'm sure newbies will like it if they can find the merchant and no jus the same few fellows who got the merchant...

Did you know that there are likely over 2000 rouge black holes in our galaxy alone. Each of them can reach very high speeds, even in space terms, are each capable of destroying anything in their path, and are invisible. Well, goodnight!

in that case... show me that merchant!!! i want to buy some octo spine stuff...
actually... id say rune of decay would cost at least 500K (based on the AH), since it has to be cheaper than AH prices to be worth to buy and yet expensive enough to be a decent gold sink......
in case of octo spine items, instead of 700K which would be payed for the set by your math, the price closer to the real value would be about 10M (even more actually...)

Look at this - You pay some gold and you had to fight a creature before you get yr item - looking at it - You are paying for the opportunity to kill the creature for the item...

It's not really paying for the item -
Look at this - You pay some gold and you had to fight a creature before you get yr item - looking at it - You are paying for the opportunity to kill the creature for the item...
no, actually... youre paying for the item since your creatures would have 100% drop rate.

Wat is the chances of a lvl 10 getting "millions" of gold unless he's buying fsps and selling them?
Although the creature can be killed through grp attacks but how many players do have the luck of meeting the merchant? Remember it's only 365 items if unluckily high lvl players kill the merchant's "pet"...Will 365 items affect the current market situation and remember that the 365 items dropped wun be the same items...Wat's the chance of having 100 rune of decay in the AH at once?

Please, lets try to avoid set prices on most items so we can keep this a player based economy.
Why not have the prices set on the average selling price in the auction house plus say 20-25%.
So if item x is selling on average for 100k gold then the wandering merchant sells for 125k.

the main reason of having the wandering merchant is to add another fun factor to the game and as well as having the newer players to be able to get a good item/beating a rare creature tat might never appeared again...

having a chance to meet a merchant is just as fun as having inferno hammer in game - even though its there, youll never have it...
if you really want the fun factor make him appear once an hour with the ability to choose the LE you want to fight and NO DROPS... and make it cost creatures level x 1000...
there you go, everyone can try the monsters that might never appear again.

you see a merchant
you ask to buy an item
you pay gold
you kill monster that drops it
you get the item
is it?well if so then no to the idea, this isnt like a merchant,is more like a quest increasing the stock of items suppose to be rare  but if is like a level 500 trying to obtain uras helmet,it would be a nice gold sink to pay XX,XXX,XXX gold lol
