How does one cancel a bid?

You don't; if you've changed your mind, you just have to hope someone outbids you.

too bad u can't cancel a bid

Too easily abused. Want to store a large amount of gold temporarily? Place a giant bid on something that's got a 48-hour auction time, then click "cancel bid" when you want your gold back.
