buffs are a way to temporarily enhance certain aspects of your character (attack, damage, defensive, xp, gold, creature drops, etc). each player receive 5 skill points every time they level up which can be applied to level-appropriate skills (buffs). players can also buff other players. each buff cast, whether on yourself or another player, costs stamina. the amounts and time of the buff differ between various buffs; however, the buff level (amount of skill points applied to each buff) doesn't change - that means if one has 10 skill points (level 10) in adept learner the stamina used to cast the buff on yourself or on others is the same as if the the skill points were 150 (level 150). there are other enhancements for buffs too, but once you have the basic gyst, you won't have any problem understanding those.

for new players, the buffs adept learner, treasure hunter and libriarian are very useful. you may want to consider saving your skill points until you reach level 25 and then putting a lot of them into adept learner. putting random skill points into a variety of buffs isn't terribly useful.

hope this helped! if you want further clarification or i've made you even more confused (highly likely!) just let me know and i'll try again!

happy hunting!
