It varies from guild to guild. Most are free to join if they have open slots, although a few require a payment (usually FSP) to join. Once your in, most guilds have an automatic 25% gold tax, taken from creature drops. These are used to pay for the hourly upkeep of maintaining guild structures. (Structures are upgrades that provide a variety of bonuses to your character.) Some guilds require that you further donate gold or FSP to help with upkeep and upgrades. The benefits of guild membership far outweigh the gold you spend, as long as you are in a decent guild. Even guild that don't mandate that you make regular donations, will appreciate it if you do so voluntarily, as this shows your willingness to help out the team.

Okay. Thanks Rolaran. One said only 1 fsp to join, but the 20 fsp for membership. I used that as a guide and couldn't find payment requirements for others. I guess the first was not the norm. That will make choosing much easier now! :D

Good luck, I hope things work out for you in your new guild. 8)
