this is a great idea, and the cows said they are working on this.... i understand that there is a delicate balance of items in the game, but here are a few thoughts of mine:
bring back cheap potions! cheap potions are how i learned to play in the arena. i remember a sludge brew was the first non-move win that i had! these are vital to the future of the arena because they are cheap (so more people can enter them) and they fill fast (so you can remember what gear you were wearing easier) Cheap bound potion tourneys make the arena a better place for players of all levels to explore. Paying a 500 gold entry fee is a much better way to learn about how the arena works than an experimental set with a 93k fee for an ursa ring.
as far as gurgriss and maximus stuff go: why not have an LE with these creatures... or better yet, make them an elite that randomly spawns in a realm... why not give everyone the chance to find them?
there are certain items that are VERY valuable to use in the pvp arena, especially at the lower levels... why not have these items go into heavy rotation so that their prices come down and allow more players access to them? OR, make some new items that render other items obsolete (like a new level 25 ring to replace reborn guardian, instead of just throwing more reborn guardian rings into the economy)
--------------
i think the important thing would be to have more cheap bound potion tourneys... these are what helped me figure out the arena, NEVER could have done it without them
This is absolutely true...my first non-move win was also a dark sludge potion and I was very happy with it. The cheap pots were what allowed me to have hope in the beginning. I would love to see a huge variety of prizes in the arena as it seems the prizes have only changed twice since the beginning of the arena. The same ole stuff get old as well as contributing to it's depreciation on the market. I have mentioned this issue several times before in other posts and am glad to see it brought up again. The arena was at one time a vibrant-fun part of the game but it seems to be stagnating more and more with the same recurring prizes all with prizes that continually are losing value in relation to the difficulty of winning them. Please HCS give us some variety in the arena and you'll see a renewed interest in it as a whole.

Potion tourneys are great for encouraging begginers BUT i have just seen a conserve 100 potion tourney (lvl100) go through the arena and was a little dissapointed to be honest. It was filled with over 4 superstars of the arena. This has gotta change.. maybe have potion tourneys or 1 fsp tourneys that only people with less than say 20 wins can enter. call them apprentice tourneys or something. BUT lets get the new players involved in the arena not completely discourage them.
back to spirals point, variety is desperately need in tha arena. its moving too slow as people dont join the dodgy prize tourneys. Lets remember the majority off top 100 players have spent a considerable amount of real cash "Donating to the game" to get their setups. They just dont grwo on trees! Reward those players a little more with some variety, thats all we ask.

I do agree with the poster that said they didn't like certain items like the cacus necklace and cacus skull, which you can currently get in the AH for 1 fsp, but you have to pay 93K for the chance to win it. That doesn't seem reasonable to me. Either lower the entry fee for those prizes or make the prizes more valuable.
On a side note I found it very interesting that Gerbilman suggested having items that were required to make Epic items available only in the arena. That suggestion was made one month ago, and look, that's exactly what they did with the new Epic! That was very prescient of you, Gerbilman! Overall, I have fun in the arena, especially when I get lucky and win, but sure, I'd like more variety in the prizes, I think we all would. Have a nice day!

I dont enter arenas... It sounds bitter coming from someone with 83 wins whining about more rewards.
this comment is pretty ridiculous... whether you have 2 wins or 1000 it's good to have prizes that are actually worth something... spending 98k gold to enter a tournament where you have a 1 in 16 chance to win something worth a whopping 1 or 2 FSP is unfair to everyone... from people new to the arena... or Noobility.

This is a TERRIBLE idea. All you little arena monkeyss are throwing off the value of the items... If they put in new items they wont be worth anything either.. LOWER the value of arena items, the same 20% of people win everytime anyhow...
this is also a silly comment... "arena monkey's" are what keep the value of FSP reasonable... without gold sinks (mainly the arena) gold would have no value and it would cost 350k per FSP in the market place.
not only that but to enter a tournament for a cacus cursed skull for example... it costs 98k... times that by 16 (the number of entrants into the tournament) thats about 1.6million gold... for an item that sells for 2-3FSP... it's slightly unreasonable.

It was a terrible idea.
No actually, it is not. This is something I like the sound of but will require a huge amount of work. As someone mentioned, I intend to create Arena Only items and sets in the New Year. It'll take time as at this point I intend to create more Mercs as well as write the weekly update for the game.
Automatic cycling of rewards every so often would be a handy option but is something for Hoofmaster to decide upon.
Need i say more?

Sounds good to me, but can we get some sort of timeframe as to when this may happen?
Sometime before the next LE

You are entering the wrong arenas spiralbern. You can regularly win 950k from lvl 90 arenas... Which ones are you entering?!?
Doesn't matter, does it? I don't enter, not only because I believe it to be pure evil, but also simply because there are always the same prizes, and except for moves or gold, I don't want or need any of them...
Shouldn't there be a variety of prizes available for those of you that do play?
Like scavenging, there should be some "Arena Only" prizes offered for all entry levels.
Sorry Kalistes, your posts border on flaming imo. I know I'm just small potatoes, but that's how I see it
Just my two Pennys

What do nerves have to do with buying into a tourny? You lose some gold thats so valuable these days?? Everyone with more than 50 arena wins should be dis-credited from this discussion. They are just tired of hording the same gear... You are aware they meant arenas to be winnable by all, they just did a horrible job? Why would you expect more?
everyone can have the gear... you are free to consult me.. I will help you with the arena...but if you are not going to join the arena ... quit complaining

Can I consult you too? Since you regularly beat me, I'd sure like some help!! I actually won two very useful items just in the last 24 hours. A very nice Hunters Amulet that I will save to use when I reach level 225, and a nice Death Dealer potion that will save me 1 FSP during my next hunt from not having to buy it in the AH or buy the buff!
I would LOVE to see a wider variety of items offered in the arena, especially more very useful potions. I wouldn't care if there were 100 different potions offered every day or even more, because they are used up and I always need more. I am probably still too new to the arena to have gotten jaded about the prizes, I still love winning something. I don't do it all just for the "profit" of it, although i must admit if I were lucky enough to win something like a piece of the new epic item, that item would be sold for profit.
I vote YES for new and more variety of prizes, and please do something to move them through faster. Thank you!! Have a nice day!1

Asking for more or better loot is like asking that rich guy who lives in the mansion whether he wants to ride the Mercedes, Jaguar, or BMW to work. If you ask me, I'd revamp the whole thing and base the cost for entry on the player's number of PvP wins--the fewer wins, the less it costs you to enter, hence those with none or just a few can enter more whereas those with 300 or 150 or 83 or 56 or 27 can fork over more gold--which obviously they have in overabundance--for the privilege of going into a tournament. All aspects of Fallen Sword should be enjoyable to all players.
Well-said Yzerhotten.
Over the last few months the arena is still balancing out and with the recent new combat moves we as a community are heading in the right direction as "balance" is concerned. But we could still use another one or two combat moves that will stop allowing players to sit on all defense and win with luck… but the balance will come (I hope).
The part I don't understand is why players who have hundreds of wins are asking for new items??? Come on people, don't you already have enough fsp and gold from all those wins and now you want to steal more from others? As Yzerhotten stated above, this is a perfect example of the rich crying to get richer. If HCS wants to bring a balance how about some of these ideas (please tweak where needed):
- Entry fees based on arena wins (the more wins you have the more it cost to enter such as every 100 wins)
- Bring maximum and minimum arena wins into the entry (arena #12345 must not exceed 250 wins to enter, or arena #12346 must have minimum 75 wins to enter)
- Bring different level potions into the arena
- Practice arena’s that are free at different levels, and do not count as PvP Arena wins
- Have some reward sections kept secret upon entry and only the winner knows the prize (like a box with a question mark on it, the higher the cost the better the prize)
Bring the hate or bring the love. Either way let's get the arena working better for everyone.

Even if we had every LE and SE item available in the arena as prizes, instead of the same narrow band.
The arena is definitely not a business for me. Just a bit of fun. But it is dull and boring constantly seeing the same pitiful items on offer as prizes.
Am I any good at the arena? No. I have won a couple, and entered a few more (just for a bit of fun every here and there) If anyone has any pointers for me, I am more than willing to listen (please, please help me)
NOTE: as I write this there is a Cacus hateful bite tournament on offer for tournament #21015 which is still yet to start, yet tournament #21388 is almost completed. So almost 400 tournaments have come and go before that tournament fills up.
