Now if, as you contend, 70-80% are scammers, surely I'd have come across one by now.

Well your exception only proves the rule.

Imo, its a risk buyers and sellers are willing to take. If you can't get buffs from people you trust, you take a risk by buying buffs from a 3rd party.

People also look for credentials, such as level, reputation, and guild. I won't buff a lvl 5 guildless person that has 5k gold on hand, that's for sure. I use my own judgement when I buff people, and i do the same when I ask for buffs.

If people read bios and are being smart about it, there shouldnt be a problem. If you are too dumb to buff before you get paid (as a buffer) or to send payment first before receiving confirmation (as a buyer) and you get screwed over, thats your problem.

So I vote no, buffs should stay as they are. Especially if you take into consideration that a solo person in a guild won't be able to get buffs at all.

No- It just shows that perhaps the numbers aren't anywhere near as high as you contend.
I'd have also heard complaints from guildies....

They could still cast buffs on themselves... it's a good compromise I think.

yea thats what I meant. A solo person would have trouble getting all the buffs they need.

Well buffs aren't "needed"... You can level without them, just not as efficiently. Besides, they could join a proper guild, guilds aren't meant to be solo retreats...

Why? Although I'm losing slightly in the vote right now, I'm sure more supporters of my idea will come to vote later.

I do find myself wondering what you have against buff sellers.

And you do realise that you are promoting a situation where a level 150 with no FSP to buy potions will have to spend all their stamina 1 at a time if they should be the highest level in their guild.
That is a situation far more common than the scamming you are so concerned about.

First off. Not everyone has the opportunity to buy loads of fsp to upgrade their character from the upgrades page. and for those that cant, fs provides buffs as a way of leveling the playing field a lil bit. and also as a way of earning the gold you need to maintain an effective character. Also there are quite a few people who have advanced quite far in the game without a single fs donation or alliance with a guild. And (even though i cant speak from personal experience) i would think that selling buffs played a great part in their advancement. And look at it this way. if you paid to go to medical school to be a doctor, would you find it fair if the gov just restricted you to only treating your family and close personal friends!... and if ur worried about scamming i would suggest that you reserch things b4 you committ to giving ur fsp. and if someone does scam you then post it in the forum for others to know. now that woul be a great forum posting dont you think. a list of all known scam artist and sites?

I guess I am an exception as well, I have never been scammed either and I buy from the front page/ FSPBox almost every time.

Never been scammed either, I suspect your estimate is based on nothing more than a wild eyed guess as to what you wish it to be. If there were any consistent scam with buff selling, the issue would have been addressed long ago.

I believe this to be a horrible idea as it would just ruin much of the player interaction and player-run economy.

Suggestions forum is meant for suggestions, so I posted one. What's your point? If you don't agree with the idea, just vote no... I'm sure I'll get many people to vote yes, as it'd be a good thing for the game.

Also, mistle im wondering, where are the many people, you have reiterated multiple times, that will support your cause?

Thanks, Mistle, 'no need for personal insults', I find that really funny. I post regularly, and take your remarks as an insult, as I'm sure a lot of the other sellers do.

I have bought buffs from level 80 up, still buy them now, (including from you, I might add), and don't think I've ever scammed anyone, nor have I been scammed buying buffs from someone else. I have been scammed out of buffs though, like all buffers who don't ask payment up front.

It's easy to say people should get their buffs from their guildmates, I suppose everyone who wants high level buffs would just have to go buy their way into high level guilds, and ask their mates to be on at the right time, will really make life easier for everyone

Buffing is an integral part of FS, it's a service, and there's enough sellers and a large pricerange to make sure scammers won't last long

wow... interesting -- I had never perceived there to be quite so much 'scamming' in buffs.. however, I think it would be nice if buffs worked like secure trading.. I put my buffs that I am going to give on the table.. and I ask for a set price.. you click yes or no.. has a 5 minute accept delay -- if you don't accept the offer in five minutes.. then it disappears (to prevent 'offline' status buffing automation).
