I've been thinking about this for a while now, and the bio / FS Box messages of a certain player finally prompted me to post this - a player who at one point messaged me directly with an offer of services, and who is now apparently changing the rules of his agreements midstream due to what he feels is "abuse" by his clients.

What's the community's feelings on lifetime buffs/buffers?

For myself, it's something I refuse to get involved with, either on the selling or purchasing end. I see too many ways for it to all go horribly wrong, and someone to get accused of scamming or harassment, and end up on the wrong side of a banhammer.

I voted "Not sure" and thats how i feel..i have read about people of both ends being happy with this kind of deal, but as you said, so many things can go wrong.

Safest option is to browse the ShoutBox, find cheap sellers and pick the right one for you. Thats what i do whenever i want a buff service..

I know the exact player you are talking about.... and he happens to be my guild founder.

I know what is going on, to be honest it is more about problems in RL. He has recently run into horrible luck and I feel he is taking it out on players in FS.

And don't think his guild is safe from his wrath....

I also read the message, and to me it sounded like an excuse to stop buffing and keep the fsp's. I think that's what all lifetime buffers are like, the buffs certainly don't last a lifetime. What i'd call a true lifetime buffer is someone that can give you buffs WHENEVER you want and WHATEVER you want, and i don't think there are any of those in the game.

Not pointing the finger at anyone, asa. I'm just looking for discussion on the whole idea of lifetime buffs; in fact, the point you made only supports the idea that lifetime buffs are not a good idea, because you never know when RL is going to rear its' ugly head and bite you in the @$$.

I understand. Before I joined my guild, I was a lifetime buff customer of his.

He got banned less than 3 days after I bought them. :(

i just read his bio also he made his bed as to buffs cant change a deal mid stream cause you dont like it he clearly says he wont give refunds well i hope hcs step in and either make him or ban him cause refusing to buff a person who has say 2k stam cause they dont have the 5k min he has now set when he grabbed there fsp fast enough is scamming a player ........if you cant fulfill a contract after taking payment you either refund or do as you agreed or get banned

It is on a case by case base. I can see how it can work out between two honest people but even then, the world of fallen sword is in such flux all the time* anything that costs massive amounts of FSP is tends to be a bad investment.

* Legendary Events, Little events like LC in Scavenging and titans, New Epic Weapons, Wars between guilds, new items in the arena and new potions to invent (hopefully someday)

There is plenty of guys going around offering "life time" buffs.. like I even saw a level 60 pushing it.. I would be pretty careful spending my hard earned fsp on a lowish level buffer.. at least you know with a player level in the 500 - 700's is going to most likely stick around!
I do lifetime buffs, but they are not cheap.. as it would not work out for me and I have a few conditions.. like they must have at least 5k stamina and we have to be on or close to the same time zone.. I also give advice on what buffs they actually need.. like if the guy is hunting creeps with 1 k defence... he does not need KE .. or if he is in a 2 hit armour set up.. you dont need ssi or a lot of other offensive buffs.. I also help them on gear set up and good old fashioned.. been there and done that advice!
I really dont think that someone selling lifetime buffs for 100 fsp is really commited.

Where's the 'no- for another reason'? :)

It's something I've stayed away from both as a buyer & a seller.
The hours I currently keep are not my normal hours & are likely to change at any given time. RL gets in the way.
I also look ahead & unless you get a very good price, it is likely that it'll end up being more efficient getting the buffs yourself when you hit the appropriate level. For those that spend their days dancing on the BB & being more static in their levels, I could see it being okay.

I have heard that there are some very good ones out there who as part of the deal give you a way to contact them at any reasonable hour

The thing is though, by definition, what counts as a "good" price for one party by definition counts as a "bad" price for the other; the difference is that this isn't a one time "oops" transaction like the auction house, where you've made that mistake ONCE and can either not do it again or learn from it for the next time. When you're in, you're in, unless you're looking to scam someone or piss someone off really badly.

In a perfect world it is a good deal for the both.. even at my price of 1k fsp.. the buffs have paid for themself in stamina saved in under 6 months, after that it is pure profit for the buyer... for me the 1k fsp is used for upgrades, BP's and some power levelling.. therefore getting me to the next level of buffs.. there has to be trust and cooperation from both parties.. and it will work.. I would not over extend myself with more than 5 "lifers" and they have to fit in with the conditions, and you must have a open line of communication.. so they have my msn, email and cell..

IMO - life time buffers, are good. if you do it right, interview like process, watch the players activity, make sure they wont just eat your stam...

The guy who said lifetimers give whatever, whenever. ya, not so much.. buffers have to hunt, farm, kill titans, ect. we cant just buff you when we have to take care of our selves as wel. but i digress...

I have no lifetime buffers, nor do i have any ppl i sell them too. but I potentially would... and as to getting my cell . or ppl offering that out, eh... thats a bit tooo close right there..

So any people wanting lifetime buffs from you would have to wait until you're online, check that you didn't have any other plans, not ask for them too often.......

Whilst I agree there should be an interview process, personally I feel that lifetime buffs should be just that, and at the buyer's convenience, not the seller's. If you are offering a paid service, then the customer should have the right to use that service without a bunch of conditions and restrictions.

I honestly think most lifetime buff sellers
a) have too many customers
B) have not realised before accepting payment how much of a burden it can be

That is not their buyers' fault though.

Adding conditions AFTER accepting payment is not fair. If it becomes too much, or didn't work out the way the buff seller intended, I think the buyers should be refunded.

I think almost always it's a waste of fsp to buy lifetime buffs.

I would not offer such a service either, because I don't like the idea accepting payment for something I may not be able to provide as needed. Plus it's a big commitment, many things can change in your life or gameplay that may affect your ability to honour such an agreement.

Just a question to those who do have lifetime buff customers - does it hamper you in any way when deciding on skills? Also, do you feel you are restricted from doing any skill resets? I feel this could be a problem, as someone buying lifetime buffs would surely buy them based on what those actual buffs are, and whether they will be able to use them effectively. I don't think I would be happy if I paid for lifetime buffs of abc skills and the player decided later on to change these to xyz skills. That would not be what I paid for.

if i ever did this, it would only be with someone i trust, and who has a good reputation across fs

i would never do it with someone who just got like level 250, and decided now they are selling lifetiem buffs, ect
