No.
Lazy much???
Already rebutted.
I know you said this sarcastically, as if it's a bad thing. However, I much prefer my keyboard to my mouse.
There are plenty of typing tutors available for you if you really need that much keyboard practice. No need to make the game another one. You already have to mouse-click into the bid field before you can type your bid into it*, so implementing my suggestion won't add any mousing at all for you. It's just the same 1 mouse-click, a bit to the right of where you click now (or perhaps even in the exact same place, depending on how it's implemented cosmetically).
* unless you wanna tab your way there, which is fine, but hardly a time-saver
But my main reason is that if you have a slow-loading page (such as when FSHelper is enabled), if you accidentally click your mouse in just the wrong spot, you'll end up buying a bunch of crap you don't want. I know that many times, I've tried to click one spot, then something else loads, and I end up clicking on someone else. I don't want to waste my gold/FSP on noob crap just because the wrong thing got clicked. Having to enter the numbers prevents an accidental purchase.
That is a wise observation. I've had that happen too, although not on this site (yet). Maybe the page could be coded to enable any buy-now buttons last, only after the entire page is done loading? (I'm not familiar with web programming and don't know if that's actually feasible.) Also, I've never used FSHelper, so any problems related to that are going to be invisible to me; thanks for your input in that area.
IMO it'd still be worth doing as long as the behavior of the page was relatively predictable; I'll take the responsibility along with the convenience, personally. However I can see that there's room for disagreement there. And if the page behavior
wasn't predictable (due to random banner ad weirdness at the top, or w/e), and a significant amount of misclicks were caused, that would be a deal-breaker for me too, barring a workaround.
No to this "suggestion".
Thanks for your "opinion".
1. a script would have to be implemented to allow for buy now bids from gold 1-to the max gold buy now bid to be shown... causing a large amount of lag
I'm unable to quite decipher what you meant by "buy now bids from gold 1-to the max gold buy now bid", so...? Obviously lag = evil; not sure what to say beyond that since I don't follow your syntax here.
2. Me... I am the guy who just shot down your idea because it is essentially pointless because people like you are too lazy to type 20000...do you want a "win" button?
So, you're nobody special, then? Just arbitrarily self-appointing?
And again with the "lazy" straw man.
3. It has no purpose in this game...obviously your fingers are not broken as you can type this... so why not type "20000" or "100" or "1"? HCS is fully capable of prioritizing it is just pointless ideas like this (such as pvp prestige and the twitter thing) that clog up their agenda, right now i would prefer for them to work on the lag rather than shortcuts like this...
That's nice. And yes, as you observe, my fingers work fine, and I'm not lazy. Interface improvements are a staple of development, just as response time improvements are. Reducing pointless work = good.
Instead of all the needless insults, you could just say "nice idea but let's address the lag first". Or even "I don't care about this idea, but if you really want it, let's at least wait until the lag is fixed". Being still kinda new around here, I didn't even realize there
was a lag issue now. The game seems to run OK for me. (Is there a thread discussing the lag that you would recommend for me to learn about that?)
Sorry to have offered such a disturbing suggestion. It seems only logical from my perspective; no trouble is intended.
