Mod Call -
This post can now be DELETED with the addition of the:
Ultimate Fallen Sword Guide

.

.

.

Edited - See at the bottom for the *FIX to see it again!
*...this is actually a TEMP workaround.
{ Quick Link to this post: http://bit.ly/5z1cjw }

*Origional Post:
As most of you may have noticed by now, the FallenSwordGuide is down.
The 'Guide' is, or WAS, located on the HCS servers.
It is no longer there as we have been told and I have NOT talked to Crace yet but will keep everyone informed.

I have not, however heard anything about where it is now or what will happen to it.

Please post any information you gather here in this post, thanks.

Fallen Sword Guide FIX
YouTube Video:

The video above shows how to edit your 'host' file,
follow it except add the following line below instead what it says in the Video,
All on one line with a SPACE in between:

87.106.222.84 http://www.FallenSwordGuide.com

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Where is this 'host' file located on YOUR system:
Windows 7 = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Note: In the 64-bit version the HOSTS file is located at:
"C:/windows/sysWOW32/drivers/etc"

Windows Vista = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Windows XP = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Windows 2K = C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC

______________________________________________________________________________
*NOTE: If you are running the program "Search & Destroy", you can edit your 'host' file directly from this program and it may be easier for you.

I have no clue where to begin. :( Two years of my time and energy just "Poof" disappeared. That is not to mention the time and energy spent by a lot of others to get it up and going, and keep it there. Why would this happen? How can this be fixed? Who can help? Who will help? It makes me sick, to think of all the players who have depended and those who still do depend on the guide to help them with their set ups for creature battle, PvP, and to enjoy the game more, who now do not have the guide available to them. :(

First we lost adedeb (a ghost in the game to live forever without being seen), now the guide, and no answers for either - Kinda glad I dont use real money to play the game...

Hey,

Its not something we've changed. We just provide hosting (for free) to the FallenSwordGuide.com website. I'll look into it and check to see why its not coming up.

I was beginning to wonder if anyone was going to speak up. What do the masses use to find their way around? I am grateful to those people that worked so hard to make the FS Guide maps what they are. Hopefully it will all get sorted out soon. Thank goodness for the wiki maps in the meantime.

for you it is easy, from level 620 ( i think ) the wiki can't provide us with creatures/realms/quests/items information like FSG did.

im sure some wiki editors would gladly take the image address of the creature(right click and click 'view image') and the stats/enhancements, taken from a handful of creatures to get a big view of the variety of each stat...tis a good base for other high level players to punch in the items that are dropped plus more detailed stat numbers

maybe HCS should make a sticky thread to help out the Wiki a bit more..to get more players involved :)

I don't know how accurate this is, but I just got off the phone with Andrea at HCS, and she says this is not an HCS issue, and will not be corrected by HCS. Hoof had left for the day. I understand this is a very busy time for Hoof, and he has a lot to do, but since no one who works on the guide has indicated they have done anything at all to disconnect from HCS server free hosting, can someone explain to me how else this could have happened? I am such an ignorant one when it comes to these things. So I thank anyone who can shed some light on this for me.

This tells me something is wrong with the name server at the hosting company:
http://www.dnsstuff.... ... com&type=A

But I'm not a networking guy, so I can't be sure.

Well I'm not a technical guy so I can't comment on why it may be down.

However I can tell you that it would be a terrible shame if the FSGuide would not be able to be re-connected as it is used by the majority of the FS users I'm certain. I know personally it's been an awesome site full of useful and priceless information since Day 1 of my FS gaming and I still use it daily for one thing or another.

It would really be a shame for the whole of the FS users to lose such a comprehensive guide that has had so much time, effort, blood and sweat put into it by so many people. In my opinion FS an the FSguide go hand in hand and to lose the guide would be like losing a very important part of FS gaming.

Fingers crossed all will work out for the best.

So, does this mean that someone at HCS needs to look into this problem? Sorry, I am really ignorant of all of this tech stuff. :(
