IF it's just a screwed up DNS entry then it's simplicity itself to fix it with the right permissions ...

One of the most useful tools I used was using the fallen sword places link which brings up all the maps and how all the various realms are interconnected and then I could just click on one of them and it would take me to the FS Guide section all about that realm. It was probably the tool I used the most. Isn't there some way to get the FS Guide back? And if not, what about getting the FS Places site linked to the wiki then? Is this possible? I know would be a lot of work.

you surely talk about my RFSA site.. many players call it the Mowglik's map...
{ link on my signature's image }

so, all the link on each little name of areas, yes, link with Fallen Sword Guide...

for now, it's serve only to see the interconnection between maps, and to finds other usefull helps...

I Hope too that HCS resolve the problem soon... :(

The first & second are online 24/24 :

1st : ======>>>  http://rfsa.atwebpages.com/ <<<======
2sd :======>>> http://rfsa.eu5.net <<<======

3rd :  ====>>> http://rfsa.000webhostapp.com/FS/ <<<====
so, this last one is free too, BUT every day, around 05:00 A.M., the web site will be in sleep for 1 hour.

Perhaps the new dedicated 3-person FS team can get someone to fix the DNS entry.

Yes, of course I am talking about your maps!! Please forgive me for not remembering the correct name.. It is one of the most useful things ever invented for FS. If for some reason they do not bring back the ability to connect to FS Guide, do you ever see a time in the future where clicking on a realm could take you to the Wiki for that realm? I know it would be a LOT of work, but it would be so great! Thank you for creating such a wonderful tool for us!! :)

Caching it through Google works. but its not usable much

Notice what it says in the bottom right hand corner: This page viewed 2939597 times since Dec 12, 2006

I can't understand how this could happen for that much time, maybe a week or month but 3+ years? it make no sense.

Whats weird is when you Google for the fallen sword Guide Ip address/DNS. you get fallen Sword's Ip address and DNS.

It's been almost a week since the FSG disappeared. I'm starting to lose hope. There seems to be a lot of speculation about what has happened, but not a lot of facts. Does anyone know who own's / runs / maintains the FSG? Information from that person or group would give us the best information / idea of what is going on, as well as the likelihood of it being repaired / brought back.

Has anyone contacted the domain owner? From the digging I did, like several others, the issue appears to be on the domain owner's DNS server side of things. For the record, those servers are not the same as the authoritative servers for Hunted Cow. Everything points to the records being changed at 1and1.co.uk (DNS host for fallenswordguide.com) so they no longer have any entries for the domain. Easily fixed if the domain owner can get the necessary entries back in place.

Alternatively, HC could provide an alias to point to the content if it is still intact. fsg.fallensword.com or something, which as long as the hosted materials remain on their server will be valid. An alias is pretty easy to setup as well.

Edit: Basically, this means that HC cannot fix the missing DNS entries on the domain unless they in fact are the owner. Considering the registration is no listed under their name and they are not a point of contact, that is unlikely. HC can provide the second solution but cannot repair the original domain entries. Also, the domain comes up for renewal on 12/10/2009 so anyone will be able to purchase it if is not renewed.

Does anyone know what the IP address of the Fallen Sword Guide is? If the DNS entries have gotten messed up we should still be able to reach it directly via the IP address.

Also, do we know for a fact that the files are still on the HC servers? The Cows should be able to at least verify that for us, and possibly even provide the IP address to access it directly, while we straighten out the DNS issue.

The wiki is totally useless compared to the fallenswordguide. I am not looking forward to keep planning my hunts or finding item stats via the wiki.

I hope the guide gets fixed soonish!

you don't need wiki to use the brides set + damage based items until level 600 ;)

True, though I am still using Argus, getting a little more damage with it, and I have not needed the extra attack yet that the brides set gives me.

I mainly use it to plan the quests during the hunt, so I know what to expect and what I need to finish the quests. Hunting towards the next location and all, what drop I need...
The wiki failed me a few times already with the wrong coords/locations.

New News about the FallenSwordGuide.

The reason why the FSG is not working is that DNS Stettings are not pointing to our servers.
It is up to the people concerned to change this.
