One I know will probably be shot down.. and the other I would like to see, but I want to know your opinion first.

First, can we have stickied "Rate the Signature Above You" and "CnC the Signature above you" threads?
(Or, they can be combined, if desired.)

A stickied CnC thread will prevent a lot of threads just for CnC, that knock down other topics..
And for both threads, they don't need to be bumped up all of the time.

Second, since there are a lot of other GFX and game forums, how about only players logged in on the forum can look at the Graphics section?
(to prevent thieves who don't even play FS)

I know this second suggestion might discourage in-game players from looking at this section.. but would it make up for unknown thieves that can snatch our works without even hinting at it?

Let me know what you guys think, thanks. :)

I totally agree with #2 but find a problem with #1. I usually CnC when I see the new post icon show up or see a thread I haven't seen before. With it being stickied, u wouldnt know of new posts and it may be confusing with more than one graphic being CnCd at the same time but thats just my 2 cents

Well, the icon next to the topic title still changes when there's a new post..

And the new feature in the forum is that it tells you if there's been a new post while you were typing, if you meant that.
If not, the person can say which one to CnC.

Or they can post a new one (that's not in their signature) to CnC. << If that is so, it could be just called the "CnC thread" or something.

And yes ajred, just people logged in. :)

I highly support #2. I had to remove several of my work. (the Prince of Persia tag, and the akg grenth tag I made were ripped)

Rate the Signature Above you gives a little cnc though.

But the only about this thread is that the cows will probably not see this. :\

Watermarks can be removed or smudged out by experts and replaced, plausibly.

I would say to make a new thread named "Rate and CnC...", so you don't have to post in both.. just my opinion.
(The person can say if they don't want CnC or a rating.)

And I'll submit a ticket asking them to take a look at this, if the suggestions aren't knocked down.

1: Sure, but I never usually look up near the stickied threads (I don't post in them) and I usually don't notice the "new post" icon.

We have a CnC the sig above you??? Lol never knew that. But as to not clutter it up, it could be changed to general CnC maybe? So something like:
Graphics-->CnC-->Signatures or Avatars-->Different topics posted in the subtopics
So maybe we won't have as many CnC posts in the graphics area :)

2.Good idea, but there's still the flaw of the thieves making an account just so they can get into the forums. But I don't think you would be able to do anything about that.

(P.S. shouldn't this go in suggestions? Lol)

1) Hmm, well the problem with the subtopics is that it might not get attention and we have to deal with people posting in the wrong place..

And no we don't have a "CnC the sig above you.." thread though one of the cows could make one if it's approved.

2) Well there are other game / GFX forums where they don't have to deal with making an account so they might as well skip ours, imo.

I believe the suggestions forum is for the game.. lol. And the people who really care and know what's going on are mostly here, in this section. :)

Here we go with my opinions.

1. Sounds great. Will prevent like 100 threads all about CnC..
2. Logged in to the forum? I'm sure there are some in-game players that do not want to log-in, then view the forum. For example, if you post an 'examples' link in your bio, the player will have to log-in to view it (For those who are not forum-active), which will probably make them ignore it and just not buy an avatar.

So technically, yes to 1 and no to 2.

question has anyone thought about how we will tell the CnC apart? Ex. i post an avatar for CnC then i get 2 comments then someone posts another and then someone comments on mine but the other person thinks its theirs.

I think 3 subsections for graphics would do a world of good for organization.

Graphics

(sub) Shops & Auctions
(sub) CnC with stickied Help & How to
(sub) Contests & Requests

Also, perhaps the cows could set the forum to right-click disabled. While this wouldn't discourage those really intent on swiping stuff, it would deter the behavior to some degree. Most thieves would move on to easier pickings I'd imagine.

It wouldn't make a difference... You could drag it on to the Tabs list and the Direct Link comes up....

yes, but for most thieves that might be too much work too. There's no 100% solution. Just obstacles that can be placed in the way.

We as the artist can take steps of our own as well, although they would inhibit some of the ease of just posting images on the forum. Adding instead "View more samples on *insert website*" and then coding the website ourselves to make it more difficult for theft is one option. This would however require more work on the part of artists, such as building and maintaining your own website and knowing something about coding.

In a website, using tables set to the same size as the image, setting the image as the background would make a null image what comes up. This is similarly achieved using css. This would make them work for it, searching the code for the images. Addition of hidden code or a maze (which is more work for you, but even more work for a potential thief) could also deter a thief. Casual thieves can be put off by no right click java, javascript and perl coding if they have java/javascripting enabled in their browser as well. Don't want to use java/java scripting? Try editing body tags. There are other more elaborate methods to take which can be more convincing at blocking theft but as I said before there is no 100% solution.
