You have got to be kidding HCS.... this lag is so bad, you cant reload a page but every 30seconds.. even the forum is lagging here.
Yeah, I know you didnt sleep at all the 24 hours and whatever, but this is insane. YOUR GAME IS UNPLAYABLE RIGHT NOW..
I have a new computer that pushes a A+ connection and 9GB of RAM.. No way you can say this is on the customers

I spotted some weirdness that may have caused the lag and issued a quick hotfix.
Let me know if its more feasible.
Thanks,

What could be a better way of approaching this is:Hoof, while I really do appreciate all the work you guys have been putting in, does this crash cause you to think that maybe regularly scheduled maintenance might be a good idea?
I'm no expert, just an interested journeyman, but I know I'd rather spend two or three hours away from the game while the servers get debugged/defragged every week or two than having to sit there and wonder when the game is going to be back up because the servers took a massive poo and died on you guys again because their stacks are so corrupt that they might as well be playing host to a horde of carpenter ants and termites, lol.
How feasible would it be to run the database servers off a HA Clustering setup? And would the initial corruption have been averted with that setup.
Need to take into account factors such as the cost of rack space, Hardware and Licenses(DB Licenses can be VERY VERY expensive). It may not be worth spending up to $100KUSD for a redundancy/contingency setup.
Agreed on having the servers split up and not on the same cluster. This is the first multi server game I've ever been involved with that had all the eggs in one basket, so to speak. I didn't suggest it originally because I figured there must be some reason for it, either cost related or logistically unfeasible. That being said, if either of those are true, scheduled maintenance > game crashing, no?

Just once it would be nice to see a post from you that wasn't whining about the game being slow, or about this being broken, or that being broken. They've just had a MAJOR outtage and all we get from you is whine whine whine. Here, have some cheese with it, please ...

Yea, Jack back there says : "I lost 1 day worth of stamina, I demand at least 90x24 stamina!"
Dennis says : "I would have hunted TWICE during that time, now I'm two levels too low"
Kathy says : "I was about to sell buffs, I would be rich now, if server didn't crash."
All those whiners, you didn't lose anything, we're back to the time when servers crashed (minus four hours). Your stamina didn't overflow because of the crash, if it did, it had overflowed for 4hours until crash came. Go spend your stamina now, spend it more wisely or do everything like you would have done, if the game didn't crash.
And those who bought FSPs(those will be replaced tho), achieved some awesome items cheap, got +++rare SE drop in that 4hour time window... You are the ones who actually took the worst hit in this crash.
Do we need/deserve reserve stamina ? Maybe, maybe not. Game is back to where it was, so there was no stamina loss, no overflowing, nothing. But on the other hand, some players "lost" 1 day of their virtual life, which they had to spend in FB instead of FS. Good reason to get reserve stamina ? H*LL YEAH!
