Addressing the change to titan hunting

The update has been a good one, but like most people on here think, 3 seconds per kill is just too much...something like 1-1.5 second delay between kills would be a bit better and allow slower connection to get some kills, without sacrificing the time it take to finish the Titan off. Also, would it be possible for the delay to be taken off either after the 50% have been reached or after a specific period of time, allowing for faster clean up etc? Something thats theorically will be hard to reached (ie 3 hour for Oggy, 4 hour for skaldy, 5-6 hour for Fuva etc) but it there to speed up the finish time a little?


Finally a FAST connected hunter that isn't all "Oh I hate this, I can't get as man kills blah blah blah."

You guys can't get as many kills because HCS is is trying to level the playing field between fast and slow connections, I personally can't wait to see what happen if/when HCs implements something close to Khan's new idea and speeds up the game for slower connections (without hampering faster connections in any way). The 'Stuff' will hit the fan good and proper and basically you 'people' will have no legs to stand on because they haven't actually hurt you at all because it would be an 'opt-in' preference.. ;)

doom look closer at his post, he wants it taken away so he can clean up the titans after the pain and get his medal ;) plus he said 3 seconds is too much which I completly agree with, I have said many times here I would be ok if the delay was 1 second or less.

Understandable, but they are still hotly contested and valid as far as testing the changes is concerned. I had the same results as Shep has concerning these changes even on the "core" titans. I can get to more of them and get at least 1(sometimes 2) kills in on them whereas I couldn't before.


The distinction is relevant, because few if any guilds are trying to win these titans. For the titans that guilds WANT to win, to do as well as they did before (assuming they had 'average' connections, and were trying to do their best), whether it's winning or getting 3rd or whatever, they have to dedicate double or triple the player hours. This makes it far less enjoyable than previously.


Odd :? seeing as you guys just placed second on the fire elemental. I have hunted on both systems recently and I can tell you that I did better after the delay was implemented. I admit it was casual as I wasn't gonna be able to to kill the thing off by my lonesome. But as far as allowing players with slower connections to get additional kills goes the change has had that effect.

I realize it's a lot more tedious for the winning guilds but that doesn't make it wrong either.

3 seconds is fine until another update to the titans is made IMO. If they implement Khan's idea then the delay could theoretically be reduced down to 1 second.

im getting WAY more kills with the new system. i'm not sure if it is because i can easily cover the entire map (even on oggy) or if it is because not as many are out there hunting anymore...

and im not using more stam than before, but i am using LF1250...

again, the problem that i have with the update is that it took a lot of the fun out of the hunts. if HCS thinks the update is truly a good thing for the game then so be it, but in my opinion (which is shared by many) 3 seconds delay is too long. a 1/2 second delay would be far more appropriate, but i still maintain that i would prefer the old way back, even if it means i get less kills (simply because i had a LOT more FUN the old way)

You honestly are one of the very few who have said something other then, "Change it back now." Since you were just about one of the fastest Titan hunters around I must give major props to you for not succumbing to greed. ;)

They are hotly contested by a few people interested in obtaining their 500 kills and no more. Not the same thing at all. One pits player against player for a singular reward while the other offers a reward to all regardless over time. So there exists a distinct difference between the two. The Elementals could be handled in that fashion if that is what you want, your kills are stacked until you reach the required amount. This does not apply to the core titans. One is a race that generates interest time and time again with the same objective every time, while the other will hold short term participation at best.

1st I would like to apologize for some of my guild mates comments as they are coming off too arrogantly when they try to make their points whether they are valid or not.

This update has made it a little easier for the casual hunter to get a few kills this is obvious from the people who come on here and say they were happy to go out and get a "few" kills now. but to be honest your probably not getting anymore kills then you would have in the old system no matter where you live, We have people with 3rd world connections who hunt the titans on occasion and with some practice they could easily get around 100 kills on the old system, on the new 1 they get about the same and now have to sit here for double the time to get those kills.

That screen shot Placeboo posted earlier had our 3 fastest hunters on it, and the people with little kills used to get the same exact amount...all the new delay does is frustrate people who enjoyed hunting titans...If only having 3 guilds on the fuvayu doesnt show this I dont know what will? as we are not going to kill an entire titan, we will let it sit for days before we kill all the hp. I may get bored 1 day and get more kills for a medal, but generally we dont kill it more then needed for a win...The other huge flaw with this system is it completely cuts out the small guilds from having a decent chance at winning, you could probably still win with 2 fast hunters on occasion, but with this new delay your stam cost is probably going to be equal to the sale price, which it practically is for us with 6 hunters now, I feel bad for these guilds not even placing and using all the stam for a boring hunt.


Sorry, I don't mean to monopolize the thread. I just want to make my point again and be done. :) I would consider myself to be somewhat of a representational player for the masses who don't currently hunt titans. I don't have an uber-powerful computer or internet connection and I'm in a guild that rarely has more than a handful of players online at the same time. After seeing how fast some players can move around to the titans recently yet still doing fairly well, I found myself encouraged to put more effort into it going forward. I won't pretend that I expect to win a lot or even finish in the top 5 all that often but it was pretty fun. My thinking is that maybe other players will come to the same conclusion over time and eventually there will be many guilds competing and not just a select few. For that reason alone I would vote to keep things as they are for now. I can tell you that I wouldn't even be thinking about it twice if players were still able to move lightning-fast to a spot and click-spam the titan while I'm still en route.

The next update. (If they go for Khan's idea) would restore a lot of the speed for the old style titan hunts WITHOUT giving faster connections a MASSIVE advantage, and for that reason alone it had undeniable merit.

Acvila you know very well that before I broke my computer and was forced to use my mum's I was far faster than you on titans. All of this 'man-up' BS, is all well and good but it's completely irrelevant when directed at me, this update will hurt me once I have my new computer so please stop. You simply make yourself look foolish.

with the 3 second delay I was able to cover the ENTIRE Broken Fang map last night, which I find to be a little ridiculous, on a Oggy which is the most competitive titan I can cover about 1/2 the map thanks to the delay so I can still get my kills, and if you guys go to an oggy or skalidir, you will see its still generally the fast people running everywhere and getting the kills from the slow hunters. Slow hunters now get 1 kill in their little area once in a while, i get 1 in most of the map, didnt solve anything just made the hunts not nearly as fun.

another thing i noticed about the new system is that the delay is even present on separate spawns, meaning that when i whack a titan and then it respawns in another location if i get there before my delay is up i cannot get the kill until the waiting period is over... that's kinda weird

If it's far away and you get there before the delay is up and can't kill, it simply means it is doing the job that Hoof intended, no?

I havent ignored that suggestion at all doom ;) if u read further back I have already addressed it, and said sure go ahead and do that, but it probably isnt even possible to do ;)

Granted, I said this when my computer is down and I am force to use a school computer that have crappy RAM, but I still have a big problem with just sitting there waiting for 3 second after every kill, might give other people some kills but it delay the time it take to complete a whole lot. For example the oggy from a couple days ago went from usually 80-90 minute to 140-150 minute, nearly a 2x increase in time spent. THis would be even more in the higher level where competition is thinnner. With this said, I dont think that the HP of the Titan should be dropped, because it could affect the market alot for these items if they are...
