Addressing the change to titan hunting

the delay makes titan hunting boring, but on the bright side, i am now getting more kills than ever. i would trade it all for having it back the old way, though, because even though i can get kills on every spawn now, it just ain't fun anymore (and i come here to have fun).

im getting more kills because my fast connection is rewarded even greater now. sure, someone who couldnt get ANY kills before might get 3 or 4 now, but this update has put a HUGE rift between average connections and fast connection, making it way easier for those with fast connections to rack up kills.


Some of the people in PANIC that have hunted titans since the update have expressed in chat that they liked certain aspects of the delay, like being able to get kills on more titan spawns. There's ground for tweaking but scrapped it should not be.

And I need to quote my walking proposition but am too lazy to do so.


Still room for more improvements to level things out.

In an attempt to help reduce potential automation and at the same time improve the playability for users with slower internet connections, we have added a forced time delay between titan kills.

How level should it be? It takes twice as long already. Any longer delay, and it almost amounts to, just adding up the amount of time each guild is willing to spend there. Yay, FFS spent 40 players hours total vs. the next highest of 20. We win?

Which is why Khanate's suggestion on further improvements makes perfect sense.

exactly. if the real goal is connection speed parity, this update had major unintended consequences

Ogalith died in 2 hours and 20 mins, that doesn't seem completely unreasonable to me?

The delay is good for the game. Winning still takes numbers, coordination and people with fast connections, that didn't change - but now people with slower connections can actually get kills on the more contested titans (and get RP + medal %). Are they able to win Ogalith, Skalldir or Fuvayu? Probably not, so no change here either. So why exactly are you crying? About little more stamina needed? All is see is whining either from people with fast connections who shouldn't have any advantage due to this in the first place or members of guilds who dominate titans and now it takes longer for them to win one. And regarding newer hunts not being "fun" - maybe they're fun for people who are just starting? No one forces you to titan hunt. The delays gives others a chance to try it out.

Who exactly are these "regular titan hunters" mentioned? All it takes to be a "good" titan hunter is fast connection, fast pc and properly configured browser. If one of these elements are missing (and note that only the last one can be fixed easily), you would hardly get any kills on the "old" titans, unless for example you killed Tsukiyaomo after he's been abandoned. How could anyone be a "regular titan hunter" with a slower connection? It'd only bring bitterness. By the way, I laughed out loud when one of the members of FFS once said how he was "one of the better" titan hunters. Use proper terms please - "faster" is the word you're looking for. There's no individual skill involved in titan hunting, there's no philosophy to it, stop being so elitist.

Oh, and good luck convincing HCS to change this back. Obviously it sucks when you lose advantage, but man up and leave this alone already.

Well isn't that what this thread was about? These changes weren't the best, and needs something between reverting back to old system and what there is now. All I saw in the thread previously were the 2 extremes.

Yes there still is room, while its fun to be able to get to every single titan with the new update a .5-1 second delay would be the fairest solution, When the delay came out I still said I would adapt, but waiting 3 seconds in between kills is just painful...

nope. at skaldir, i managed to kill 201 titans in 30 minutes, but i was bored because i had to go from a side of a map to another in 3 seconds, and still managed to kill 2-3 titans. was boring the new system

PS: if the delay wont change, at least LOWER the number of titans needed for the medals.

It really is not about losing an advantage. It's that it's now about dumping the most people on the map for the longest time willing to tolerate the message box that says you need to wait to kill the titan again.

I agree, but between people asking for a balance were people simply yelling at others that they shouldn't post and that the delay should be entirely scrapped.

Another point entirely unrelated to Conscar's comment, why do some people say it allows people with slow connections to get more kills, yet those with fast connections are now at a further advantage? If those with slow connections can get more kills then someone has to be getting less somewhere...

Still too lazy to dig my walking speed suggestion. But everyone agreed on it right?

average hunters are getting the shaft...


i'm not sure what the "walking speed suggestion" was... i do hope it isnt some kind of system where everyone walk around at the same pace... :roll:
