Recently many ppl like tedewoldt got ripped off by ppl who cheated them. this was because there is no feature that helps in direct trade of items. i suggest hcs to make an update to the secure trade feature so that u can "ask" for an item from the player u r trading with.
for example:
Target Player [?]:
I am offering...
Gold [?]:
FallenSword Points [?]:
Tick any of the following items you are offering with this trade.

In return I require...
Gold [?]:
FallenSword Points [?]:
Item Name:(name of item u want in exchange for the trade)

according to me this should help a lot in reducing cases like this.

You could have drop down menus regarding for level, then peice (amulet, weapon, etc) then item, craft, and forge to make it specific.

Well for my - and small input , i am also a donater of real life dollars to this game. And from my point of view - something that you pay real money for should be able to be protected. That there is evidence of the thievery , HCS could easily rectify the situation by replacing the item - and punishing the guilty theif- thats what good customer service would be - has the thief paid real life dollars ?? This spate of attacks by thieves and scammers jeopardises the entire game - if there is no integrity , the security of the entire game is under threat and why ppl turn to E*vny and W*w .
In the past - thats how the old staff would have dealt with it - would the new crew would rather see many (paying) ppl leave that they would be able to milk for years ??

1. Step : Player 1/Player 2 offer Item, Gold, FSP
2. Step : Accept ( not trading yet )
3. Step : Player 2/Player 1 offer Item, Gold, FSP
4. Step : Accept ( not trading yet )
5. Step : Player 1 + Player 2 see what they are trading ( Item/Item, Item/FSP, Gold/FSP etc..)
6. Step : Player 1 TRADE
7. Step : Player 2 TRADE
8. Step : Both players happy.

To being able to send an indirect trade seems not good to me, since that way players are able to
see your inventory.

Well--after I saw this happening to some players-something like should help to decrease the number of thefts...
Though it should be number or something similar-since you can have more than 1 item of the same kind in your BP(differently crafted and/or forged)...
Or as mrozo sad both players must hit TRADE/accept to successfully exchange items...

There's no reason this shouldn't be implemented. I'm sure lots of needless offers would float around, but that's hardly a reason to protect players against scammers and thievery that seems to run rampant.

:) That shouldn't be a problem--just try posting on FsBox that you're selling something--you'll get bunch of ridiculous offers ...So that part shouldn't stop HCS from implementing this to the game...

What's wrong with secure trading? Surely someone has enough fsp/gold to initiate... If someone isn't willing to do a secure trade, THEY ARE TRYING TO SCAM YOU.

I have to say, I agree with this matter. Something similar to offering your side of an ST, the other side makes their offer in a similar manner which is bound to the same trade, and both players must accept both sides. It's a very common feature in online games. As it stands, I can't do some trades because I would need FSP as a medium and it can be difficult to agree on a value where one side isn't tempted to take the FSP and find a better deal on the other item. Direct trades would be quite useful.

If I want any direct item trades without involving FSP, it involves an amount of trust which many people do not have the luxury of possessing. A generous nature and just a bit too much trust can result in serious consequences.

Direct trading would solve a lot of problems, it would cut down on support tickets, it would cut down on scams, and I could see how it would be quite popular. Imagine being able to offer components plus FSP/gold fee for completed goods. Trade off one epic for another. Offer your uncrafted Sword of Swording and 10 FSP to Merchant McMoneybags for his perfect Sword of Swording, since he might be confident of getting perfect with less FSP or not care about the craft since he'll sell it just the same.

I am highly in favor of direct trades, it has always been one thing I felt this game was missing and seriously needed. To any devs who read this, please consider such a system. Not only would it be a benefit to all involved, it would be another area to spend FSP in, increasing the max Direct Trade slots much like STs or auctions.

Edit: Robotussin, that's not always true. Someone with Ogalith gloves and someone with a Ward may not even have 500 FSP between the two of them, investing the majority or entirety of their fortune in their gear. I'll admit that an unknown person trying to trade without ST is likely more interested in a scam than in a fair trade, yet there are honest trades out there to be made where there's just not enough FSP on either side as a medium.

Hm--well,I see your ah--You are selling KKH-and I see that you're online--I don't have enough to bid so I pm you with:are you maybe willing to exchange your KKH for my Ring of Red Death.,You see this as profitable trade and accept--now,someone has to send his item 1st,thief suggests that you should send 1st--you agree because-well why would someone try to steal something like that...

That's why wee need "exchange item" option in ST.

I am in support of that although I dont trade items for items. I have seen a lot of ripp offs going on & people not paying back for these. HCS should consider this seriously

Adding items to both sides of the secure trade menu would be a great idea.

Some of you are arguing a horrible point. Yes you can initiate a secure trade for Gold or FSP...but what about trading items? you are at the mercy of the person you are trading with. IF I send you Oggy Gloves and want your KK Helm....That is not a option. I would have to send the gloves and hope you send the helm.

That is how people are getting scammed. An update is needed.

I understand this is its own game... But Di*ablo had a good trading system. Where you could put all your items you wanted to trade in the box and wait for them to put what you wanted in theres.

Not sure how this would be accomplished in Fallensword but worth looking into for sure.

Also, someone commented on how the item should be replaced by HCS and the theif punished... Unless HCS is watching every account at every single second, (although tedewoldt has screenshots of the agreement) In most cases people would just try to rip HCS and say THe Frackers stole all my Titan Gear or something stupid... And if they implement the system of replacing items, they would have to honor it... or there would be collaboration amongst players where one player said yah i took it and the other player would be rewarded free stuff!

"Make me an OFFER!!!" That could be how its done! You send the item, but as veiw only so they can check the stats, they reply with the item you have requested. Then view only of both images will be sent just like a secure trade, with an accept confirmation below. That way you cannot see the other persons full inventory!

I totaly agree with this, it is outragous that they will not do anything to a person who doesnt follow there deal even when you screenshots of the agreement. If your allowed to do this then HCS isnt doing anything against theft and is gonna lose alot of top payers. :!:
