Hey guys I want some feedback on this avatar. I bought Halos psd and while looking through them I found out some new things. Mostly about Graident maps. So after messing around a little bit with what I learned this is the end result. What do you guys think? *Other than text I still suck at it*

Posted Image

Plus I didnt really add any C4D or anything special. My main goal was just to mess around with the maps and see if I could get a good result with the original picture.

One word of advice. For text, put it together. Also try using some Clipping Masks for it. You may not get them at first, (I know it took me awhile) but if you can get it, it will make it a ton easier when messing with text.

Thanks for the advice I guess I will go and look at the clipping masks and see what I can pull off.

Something new I just made. My goal was to somewhat learn how to use renders.
*Text is awesome don't suggest a change to it  !*

You are getting much better in such short time. there a few basics that could be better. You might want to try to blend the render a little. Also. Use a clipping mask on the text so it doens't stick out as much.

Im just wondering how exactly does a clipping mask help with the text? From the tutorials I looked up I didn't see anything with text so I'm kinda lost on there.

Well if you have looked at the tutorials then you see how you use say a splatter brush and then use a clipping mask to.. splatter the image in a sense.

In this situation you are using one to take the graphics and laying it over the text. So the colors would match the rest of the image around it.

If you have seen how fourbrezio uses text. He a lot of the times uses clipping masks. For the text that is.

That makes sense so something like this is better mostly because the text kinda blends with the image rather than sticking out.

Really? The text on the second one is a little bit lighter compared to the first one.

I right clicked on my text layer and clicked create a clipping mask and it pointed a arrow down to my previous layer.
