There's a person who has been using a script for a while now, to space her potions exactly 2 minutes and 45 seconds apart (plus a second or two for lag etc). No names, because that's against the rules. This of course means that their potions are at the top of most peoples lists when looking for potions, and therefore she has a massive advantage over everyone else when selling potions for fsp (not an issue with gold because it's easy to undercut other sellers and therefore appear at the top of the list).
While it doesn't affect me a whole lot personally, it affects people who work hard to make potions, and I can't stand cheating in this game.
Do you all agree that this is definitely cheating? I think the exact timing is sufficient evidence.

I fully agree :)

Its as much cheating as using the FSHelper to place many auctions at the same time, both the same type of automation that puts those that dont have it at a large disadvantage..

The definite cheating happens in the Marketplace, where people still use scripts to buy/sell FSP at incredibly fast rates.

edited to make it clear i agree with OP. :)

If the script was publicly available and approved by HCS, then I would agree with that comment. It's timed automation that's unfair on other players.

I agree. This is cheating and the ones using it should do it the same way as the rest of us. If you are a potion maker the last thing you want to see is them coming back to your mailbox.

Well FSHelper is HCS approved to do a certain task, and this task is done by you clicking buttons. Nothing even happens while you are away from the game.

This new script seems to do things even when you aren't in front of the computer. I think it's on a different scale and can easily be considered automation, while it is simply arguable with FSH.

To be honest the FS Helper alone is cheating in my eyes. Simple as anything downloaded for a text based online game is a program to enhance your game play.

I also see that many have auctons all ending at the exact same time. When I put on auctions there is always a few seconds spacing, so I don't know how they do that unless it is an option in the FS helper, which I don't know because I don't use/have it...

Let me get this straight... So someone uses a script to automatically put one potion for 1 hour time at AH every 2:45 seconds? Due to short time bid, his/her potions always comes at first priority on search result?

Yes, exactly. AH items are sorted based on time until expiration

If you know you will be away from the computer for 24 hours, you will put your items up for 24 hours and for the last 15 minutes they will be at the top of everyone's list since they have the shortest time to expiry.

If you have this script, you can automatically put your items up for 1 hour 24 times in a row while away. This will result on your items being closer to the top during the 23 first hours.

I believe FSH defines the definition of a cheating program for a game, but it lays on the boundary of rules.

FSH helper does not automatically post auctions. It does allow you to post multiple auctions of the same item at the same time, but it is user driven (you have to click buttons - i.e. be at the keyboard).

What BoogerNZ is referring to is a DIFFERENT script that someone else has created that automatically posts potions while they are away from the computer. Definitely against the TOS.

Yes. Unfortunately I can't discuss tickets. The fact that I've had to post it on the forums says it all.

I don't understand how using FSH is considered an unfair advantage. For one, it's readily available to everyone to download and use. Two, there is no automation because you, as the user still need to be there and execute the commands.

I wasn't complaining about an advantage, I was simply saying it is the sole example of a cheating program. There is automation because it makes things faster than what you would be able to do without it.

however, being that is approved for use by the developers, it is by definition not cheating.

if you remember a bit back, there was a hunting mechanism on the helper that HCS made them remove, saying it was an automaton, so to me, it would seem HCS monitors the helpers features, and have decided that it falls into legal boundaries of use.

you are defining anything that helps with gameplay as cheating, and by the rules of the game, that is simply false.

While the helper isnt considered cheating, I have had a few discussions with Tang in the past whether or not it's helping too much on some areas. Don't know if it was ever implemented, but there was a thought to have the helper calculate the final stats on a PvP target after buffs, some of which are intended to confuse the attacker in the first place. If this was added to it (or if it is) it means there's no need to look at your opponents buffs or know how they affect stats, the helper would do it for you.
The above is actually in work concerning relics today. While I applaud the helper calculating total screen stats, I think effects from buffs like flinch, DC, NMV and const on lead should be taken out of it.

And on topic; send in a ticket.

Yeah, that what I'm worried about as well. The helper has taken out a lot of the though in hunting. If it does it to PvP as well.... just bleh. :?
