Consider the BB, whether you are clearing or defending, the level gap between you and an oppponent can make it very challenging and fun.. As far as I look at it sure, leveling to get better gear and/or buffs is sweet.... BUT, it's not as entertaining as PvP. 8)

Too much risk for LvL 1 Prestige.

PvP = Bounty = Risk of loosing 5 levels. Best case loose "only" 10% of your level.
Too much risk for LvL 1 Prestige.
spoken like a true leveller LOL

PVP as a few people have stated, is another aspect of the game. I'm seeing a few negative comments towards levelers for not participating in that aspect of the game.
PvP does not have the same rewards and for me, it comes with too many risks. Maybe if there was XP to be gained from PvP, aswell as a risk to the attacker to lose XP if they lose, it would be more rewarding and more worthwhile.
see there is your problem, you play the game as a business,, you dont play it for fun as it should be played,, this game is a relaxing release for me,,
PVP is fun for some and not fun for others. I get my enjoyment out of leveling and gaining levels/gold. That is my fun.
Levelers don't force PVPers to level so why does it seem like a lot of the comments in this thread are from PVPers trying to push PVP onto levelers.

In a way, levelers do force PvPers to level up. Let's say I have a rival, and that happens to be you. We're on the same level. Let's say I am so desperate in successfully beating you every hit for example, but you would move on and level, that forces me to level too.
LOL, just an extreme example
I would say very extreme and indirectly.

I don't particularly like hitting other people. My enjoyment does not come from someone else's suffering.
If you play chess and capture someones queen, are they suffering? If you play Monopoly and someone lands on your hotel, are they suffering?
Would you only play chess with your pawns and not partake in all parts of the game?
No hotels on your property?
The problem is the over inflated value placed on levels and people becoming irate when a little bit of exp and gold is taken. I could understand if you started playing and there was no pvp component in the game then it was added later, but as far as I know pvp has been part of the system since this games inception.

Its not profitable most of the time. It would take a nice gold heist to buy the stamina I would need to get my 5 levels that I will almost surely lose back. At lower levels PvP hits were in return a bit more profitable for me.

I think a great part of the players in Fallensword can be categorized as collectors.. Some have enough enjoyment in their collection of, say, swords, making it grow, knowing what qualities and history is behind each sword. Competition is a matter of who has the most or how fast your collection grows compared to others. And they're horribly afraid of damaging or losing a single sword of that collection unless the loss can be covered + +..
Others like fencing.

For me it's mostly because of down time of the server, or because I am sleeping. Otherwise I partake.I just wanted to find out why a lot of players do not take part in very much PvP.

I myself wouldn't mind doing it, but I am just not willing to risk losing levels and I am sure this is the same for a lot of people. Also unless you get lucky and find a target with millions of gold on hand, I just see it as a waste of my hunting stamina.
levels and stamina are not that important, the friends, allies, and NAPs, however, are very important. You just have no idea how hard it is to find a target with millions of gold on hand that is not an ally, friend or from NAP guild ... So many restrictions... :| I've had so many targets in FFS and TEW, but unfortunately the guild had NAPs with those guilds... also some people just don't like bringing troubles home especially if they are in a leveling guild, if you want to pvp better find a pvp guild.. of course there are exceptions
