Why don't you PvP:
A. Because I don't WANT to hit/rob others. I see it as wrong, and simply choose not to.
B. Because whenever this comes up, whiners whine about non-PvPers being "whiners".
C. Because the bounty board is by nature a joke. It's a medal factory. That's it.
D. Because MOST people (even the PvP-type) love this game for the friends they make. Yes, you can have fun messing with people and puffing yourself up about how tough you are. However, that's just not how I choose to make friends.
E. Because the PvP system is automatically flawed. The attacker is given an advantage, and there is no loss of XP/gold on their part if they fail. No, don't bring up the bounty board. Already covered.
F. Because (and I've brought this up numerous times) everything else in this game is optional. I have the option of hunting. The option of using the AH. The option of the arena. The option of the market, crafting, forging, joining guilds, leaving guilds... EVERYTHING. But PvP is thrust upon me no matter what. Just because someone feels like it.
Maybe if there's so much to be gained from leveling and that would appear to be the main concern of this thread, we should recognize the majority opinion. Just sayin'. PvPers are quick to point out they're a gold sink, or they're so important to the game. Well, the very nature of this thread would point to PvP NOT being the primary focus of most of the Fallen Sword community. I suspect there's a LOT of proud levelers that avoid these threads because of the threat of PvP. Sad. Great game construct there!
I've played long enough to recognize PvP has a function and is relevant. It STILL seems to me it's the same people over and over again using and defending it. Give them their guild dueling. Great! Let them hit each other to their hearts' content. I really don't see how a PvP opt-in is bad for Fallen Sword. Of course, there will be whining about "I'll leave this game" if it was done, but that's no different from most any other thread here.
