As I understand it, Reckoning is supposed to announce upon activation.

A very nice level 900+ player buffed me with it tonight, while I did over 30 bounties.

Not ONCE did reckoning activate. My understanding is also that it activated quite often for players while hunting, so at this point, I have to assume Reckoning is not functioning in PvP.

Why, then, does the skill description read "0.2% per point chance of doubling a random skill level for the battle if you initiate the combat"

If reckoning isn't meant to function in PvP, why not just say PvE only, like CA, Imp, et al?

Unless I'm missing something, and there's a pve situation where mobs attack players

His name is Hoof as best I can speculate and he's a very busy man.

it has nothing to do with reckoning. If you fancy a gander at what we all do go have a look at our staff profiles on The HCS homepage.

Nice one Forn contributing to the mysterious intrigue known as the Hoof since we see less of him then in days past. Please conjure him into leaving the caves more often. For this Fallensworder the world spins truer when he does...

Tested Demoralize, 80+ combats and not one activation in PvP.

If these are supposed to be such neat-o PvP buffs, it would be nice if they even tried to work?

Please .... Reckoning is fine as PvE anyway. Just change the description.

As for demoralize, it's useless if it doesn't work in PvP..... :?

On the subject of reckoning

It was activated on DD last time i hunted and i saw no difference in damage inflicted to the creature.

Did anyone else noticed it?

Thx

i don't think it changes the max damage bonus of 20%. reckoning shouldn't effect DD unless you didn't have a long enough kill streak to get the 20% bonus in the first place.

Hmm..guess i was looking to get 20% more damage and forgot it only mean i need less KS...

Could be good if you lost your KS though

Tested Demoralize, 80+ combats and not one activation in PvP.

If these are supposed to be such neat-o PvP buffs, it would be nice if they even tried to work?

Skill descriptions have notoriously been rather vague in how they work. Only after time do players become familiarized with them that we understand how they do or do not work.

Demoralize: +0.25% per point chance to half the opponents enchancement levels for the battle. Note this skill only takes effect if you initiated the combat.

Btw devs, there is a spelling error underlined.

As for Reckoning, you missed in your OP the whole description:
+0.2% per point chance of doubling a random skill level for the battle if you initiate the combat (Note that this skill does not work with Doubler, Summon Shield Imp or Counter Attack.).

What catches my eye is that the skill specifically omits working on skills that are NOT PvP skills.

However, I don't see a problem why either skill shouldn't work in PvP or show activation. They both only work if the buffs are active on the player initiating the combat. So like Spellbreak, it does not work defensively, something if Reckoning did could really change the way PvP works. Good.

I'm hoping these skills can be addressed by the devs before the weekend but I won't be holding my breath, if anything FS history has taught me it is not to expect skill tweaks in a timely manner ;)

Fair points all, luis. And I can't believe I missed the enchancements thing

While I agree that skill descriptors have been notoriously vague with regards to previous skills, consider the following skills:

Spectral Knight
Counter Attack
Summon Shield Imp
Assist
Mesmerize
Dull Edge

All of those skills specifically state that they only operate "vs. creatures only" or, in the case of SSI, "works in PvE only."

While I'll grant you that Distraction doesn't clearly state it is PvE only (and it is) Hoof has clearly stated in the original update thread it's only intended to be PvE enabled. In light of that, the skill descriptor should be changed.

My main concern with Demoralize and Reckoning is that on face they have very interesting implications for PvP combat and share none of the language of previous buffs, and while mobs do have enhancements, they are far less of a factor (usually) than enhancements in PvP, especially live PvP. In short, limiting demo to PvE greatly reduces its value as a buff.

Reckoning may in fact be too overpowered to operate in PvP (personally, I disagree, as it has absolutely no defensive value whatsoever, but that's just me), but Demoralize should, at the least, be both PvE and PvP enabled.
